I adored DC ONE MILLION, if the crossover were a condo I'd rent it for the summer. The notion of the Superman Dynasty leaves the door open for amazing stories down the ages, as well as tees up counterparts in the 853rd century further down the line. It's a shame the setting was never revisited.
#EventsDearBoy 5. DC ONE MILLION (1998, DC) This is the Grant Morrison event where they play nicely with others, crafting a fantastical future for the DC Universe and opening its gates for other creators to have fun with. And they do - no other event has such an excellent tie-in hit-rate
....ok, this is EITHER your chance prove to Uncanny (and everyone else, quite frankly) that you ARE interested in reading little interviews of me, OR your chance to read more amazing fiction/poetry. (I suspect the second is what you're all really here for, but still!)
When the Uncanny Magazine Year 13: The Space Unicorn Believes in YOU! Kickstarter reaches 825 Backers, we will publish an exclusive Mini-Interview from solicited poet Mari Ness! JUST 30 MORE BACKERS!!! www.kickstarter.com/projects/unc...
The idea has broken containment. It's already too late.
Amazon are gonna decide with a reality TV show aren't they
This is framed like that scenario where "If you hit a button you get $100 million dollars, but _x_ will happen," with X being ""AI" disappears forever." Motherfucker, I would hit that button until it broke.
"zzzzzz. . .to blazes with convention. . .zzzzz. . ."
The Morning Monty is comfy, and he doesn’t care if you think it’s weird.
Seconded. I miss my non-STAR TREK ADVENTURES science hobos.
I miss you lower decks
"And I'm like 'what's the big deal'? I'm not going to -bite- you. . .and then I BITE THEM! MWAH-HAH-HAH-HAH!"
Haunts

Far too many people have proven far too eager to give up their autonomy to anyone or anything that offers them easy answers. This grift needs to die.
I have one answer.
Making them use solar is great and all but the water use is what is going to kill us
Australia’s federal government will press on with a nationwide push to ensure new data centers use renewable energy, pledging to pass laws despite opposition to the move from some regional administrations

As has become a PulpFest tradition, I came up with a few new cover ideas for the Panthans Journal, working each morning in the dealers room. But this one I had almost finished in the studio before the show. Final touches done this week.
Daaaamn. “AI is the asbestos we're shovelling into the walls of our technological society. Our descendants will spend generations digging it out again, and the longer the bubble goes on without popping, the longer it will take to repair the damage." www.thenerve.news/p/cory-docto...

First, you tell me to get a hobby; now it's an “appropriate hobby”.
If you read fiction and you don't like AI you're a hypocrite. If you eat monster munch and don't like asbestos you're a blacksmith. If you play videogames and don't like stubbing your toe you're a submarine captain. We can all just SAY things. It's not hard.
Seconded. There's a cottage industry that continually blares at us that we're fucked, that there's nothing we can do. Which is bullshit. When we buckle down and lock in, we can accomplish miracles. Don't let them tell you otherwise.
Noise. Pollution. The Ozone Layer. Acid Rain. AIDS treatment. Cancer cures. Crime rates. Child abductions. As much as we consume doom and gloom in our media, humans are very, very good at solving problems when we want to. We just have to want to.

Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.
