Plenty of Irish place names that sound inadeverently like horror-movie locales in their English language forms - Kill, Slane, Swords - but Beal na Marbh near Coachford, where we passed through today, takes some beating.

Jeanne Gibson, known worldwide as Rosie the Riveter, passed away on 29th July 2026 at the remarkable age of 100. Thank you Jeanne for giving women a symbol of strength when we were told we had none. 💋💪🏻💘

Going to say it once more: Academics like Wilson have entire careers independent of how many books they sell. We may not make millions, but it can be a good, meaningful and lovely job. She is not obligated to be "nice" about Nolan's adaptation, that is not how academia works.

I'm sorry but your piece smacks of ingratitude. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer your translation has sold ONE MILLION copies, most I contend, due to the pr run-up and release of the Nolan film. You are entitled to your opinion but why bite the hand that fed you? Maybe silence would be wiser?
