Most subterranean CCS is BS: CO2 absorption by rocks is slow. Putting CO2 in pores in rock means that it will leak out in the future. Plus, sinks for CO2 have a finite limit; there is only so much land for trees and so much CCS potential rock, while we keep digging up the stuff that produces CO2.

There is a clear international legal obligation to cooperate on climate, and to prevent significant harm to the environment. Dismantling these stations is a breach of law.

We still have a choice, and are not yet destined to bequeath a much less habitable planet to future generations. Our children and grandchildren deserve a fair chance.

Our new article (open access) shows how even with a moderate future emissions scenario, global temperature will still be elevated by 3-4°C in the year 3000!
