you can't judge when bioware was really killed because the mismanagement at the higher level under EA has been so constant and pervasive since the acquisition at every stage that every game shipped at all was a herculean miracle
The one thing I will advocate for now is that all things considered if you plan on playing Mass Effect or Dragon Age for the first time after seeing the news but do not own those games already you might as well just go ahead and pirate it because EA does not deserve your money. Also valid for Sims.

I was at BioWare over 12 years. It's where I got started writing games. I met and worked alongside wonderful people. Kind, talented, passionate. I learned a lot. I helped create some amazing stories that I'm glad made it out into the world. The people and the stories are what I cherish most.
My heart is fucking broken. Wishing all the best to the incredible devs who lost their jobs... thank you so much for making the games I love so much 🖤 Bioware games are the standard I judge other games by. We lost something so good 💔

BioWare closing is so depressing. Compounding it for me is how predictable it is at a time where creative institutions --studios where artists were nurtured, resourced and trusted to MAKE THINGS -- are being harvested for parts. Emblematic of a soul-sick world.
it cannot actually be ignored or danced around that the closure of BioWare came so soon after the Saudi and Jared Kushner acquisition of EA. they absolutely did take the studio making EA’s broadly queerest games out back and shoot it old yeller style. do not let yourself or colleagues ignore that
