Me, posting on LinkedIn about how I think it's weird that OpenAI is announcing "erotica" amidst ongoing child safety concerns, and it seems like grooming. LinkedIn people: Uh wow jumping to conclusions much? Sure, an AI bot COULD chat up an 8 year old, but isn't that the parents' fault?
I haven't used this app in 9 months, but aggressive enshittification everywhere is pulling me back here. Uh. What's up? Is this still a great place for SEO chats?

Listen, I know "toxic" is a little dramatic but it can also be apt. I used to link build. It's big business for a reason, and the financial incentive still generates bad practices. I've been part of great campaigns, and I've also seen all sorts of justifications for bad links.

I went pretty in-depth on YouTube's algorithm. Imo it's a really good idea for SEOs to understand it even if you're not focused on video. It's a look at what a Google property does when it has complete control over the platform. P.S. Tags don't matter.

The great lie of ommission from Google seems to have always been: create high-quality content (so that we can steal it and show it to users without benefitting you)
What the heck where are all these followers coming from! Hi friends, I haven't been posting much because I'm head down at work prepping for the holidays but I'll post something cool soon (depending on your definition)
Some SEOs: "UsE ChaTGpT fOr EnTITy AnALysis" Me: "ChatGPT, do entity analysis on this 404 URL" ChatGPT: "nO pRObLem!" 🤡 Inspired by @jessthebp.bsky.social brilliant video which is linked below and you should watch if you haven't!
SEO PRO TIP Be consistent with signals. Just saw this article by @mattgsouthern.bsky.social I've always said in my audit work "be consistent across signals". Here, a Google rep says it about canonicalization. Reinforces what @johnmu.com has always been advocating.
Google Uses About 40 Signals To Determine Canonical URLs
Google reveals it uses about 40 different signals to choose canonical URLs when dealing with duplicate web content.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving I will make one (1) positive comment about LLMs: They've made it very easy to identify overused language and clichés. They build sentences with statistical probability. So if it "sounds like AI" that probably means it's overused.
I used to cook turkey with Delia Smith's method but last year I tried Padma Lakshmi's buttermilk brine recipe and it's so darn good. So I've developed a weird process somewhere between the two because I just can't give up Delia's stuffing.
However this turns out, it's going to be wild. There are two concurrent cases against Google that could end up forcing it to give up significant assets and advantages. I'd be a little more sympathetic to its arguments if it hadn't spent the last year ramping up AI theft and siphoning traffic.

Search your heart. You know it to be true.
Reckoning with things I've said and done that hurt people is a difficult part of personal development and growth.
Some got better, yes. Some didn't, or are still working through it, or only got better when loved ones said they were actively being hated and hurt. I talk about my own journey because I wasn't perfect at it, and I did/said/was things that hurt people. I'm still learning and trying to be better.
People often ask me how to know for sure if an image was created by artificial intelligence. So I marked in the attached photo (in the red circles) some clues that make me suspect that it's a fabricated photo, although it's not possible to say with absolute certainty in this case.
For something that only thinks in binary, computers seem to attract a lot of people saying "it depends."
I'd love to see a programming language where "it depends" is an actual language keyword 😜
One thing I value so much about @sejournal.bsky.social is the team's commitment to leadership development and learning how to have hard conversations. I'm using skills I picked up at work in my daily life.
