I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

I had these saved to look at when I finished the book, and now that I have, I can say WOW! They're gorgeous!

Just finished @aptshadow.bsky.social 's new book #ChildrenOfStrife. As a huge fan of the series, I spent the past couple weeks illustrating each part of the book! (19 total) An amazing adventure, I highly recommend! (See thread for each piece) #booksky #art #scifi

A collage of 19 illustrations, each depicting a part from Children of Strife

Man, if you could be turned off of something by being forced to to do an unsatisfying version of it in school, you'd never exercise, you'd never make art or music, never study history, never do things in a group or talk to people... this is an excuse.

I understand that it sucks to have to read a book you didn't choose as a kid but when people are like 40 and still going, "well assigned reading turned me off from reading" it's like, ok but you're 40. No one has assigned you a book in like 20 years.

I'm hardly young but this is also me. Capitalism is not the same thing as free markets (and often destroys them.) And part of being for free markets is being for open borders; countries should be competing to offer the best living standards, and consumers should have a choice.

People on the other site were marveling at or making fun of this poll showing young Dems approving strongly of free markets but capitalism being underwater with them and I actually have a simple explanation for that which is they want to live in something closer to a western social democracy of…

I'm on team "they can stop changing the clocks wherever, as long as they stop" and I'm also kind of baffled by the number of people invested in what's happening with the sky before 9AM. It could be plaid for all I care.

Okay, THIS is probably the final version of this poster... I incorporated some of the omissions people brought up, but this thing is literally stuffed *full* now - I thought it was overstuffed yesterday, but just this morning I squeezed in three more I though should be in there...

A massive poster print of "A Guide to Robots and Cyborgs" featuring various movie and TV characters, starting with Metropolis' Maria in 1927, to Murderbot in 2025.

JKR and her new org apparently helped get the new Amnesty International report on how TERF organizations destroy lives taken down from their site. Well, guess what? The Streisand Effect is real. Here's the entire report in a thread. Read it. Share it.

Amnesty International put out a major report documenting the influence of UK based anti trans gender critical organizations and their funding. Within hours, GC groups threatened defamation lawsuits and Amnesty was forced to pull it down. Proving the point they're anti rights. Anyways, here it is.

On July 2nd national book banning bill HR 7661 was placed on the Union Calendar making it eligible for full consideration on the floor of the House. We don't KNOW if it will be, but the timing suggests they're trying to sneak it in during a relatively quiet time of the year. So it's time to act...

One reason I'm bullish on us winning the culture wars is that even if there's no queer characters in 225 Hollywood family films (and that does suck), this art wall for kids and tweens was like half Jax. I couldn't even get them all in (there was a maid Jax and a Zooble too.) Culture finds a way.

A kids' art way with some dinosaurs, two Jaxes, a Rumi, a Trogdor(!!) and some other stuff, plus handwritten signs saying 'I Love My Two Moms' and 'Let trans kids bloom'.
