Have a friend who does gig work. Recently the company switched to mostly AI for the coordination, scheduling, support, etc. It's been dropping clients, mangling assignments & there is no one/human to contact to correct its mistakes (which the AI can't do). So, that'll be good for business. Right?

So is it just me, or is Amazon doing the "the cat is on the roof and we can't get her down" routine a lot these days? Oh, the shipping is delayed? Look, is it in stock or not? Did it go missing? Did your fantastic futuristic automation fuck up? Did your overworked employee use it as a pee bottle?

I remember when it was declared that a chat bot had passed the Turing Test. And that was fantastic until you read the full article that explained that the chat bot was presented as a child to whom English was a second language. Also several humans were labeled as chat bots in that test.

"I mistook a chatbot for a human" and "I took a human for a human" arrive at near-identical places, but they are subtly and importantly different. 23/

"That's not true" that ICUs were overrun? Fuck that guy. It is still weird to me when the ICU & our inpatient floors are not filled to the brim, with people in our "step-down" unit waiting for an open bed in ICU, with every 2 patient room fully occupied with spill over into our post surgery wing.

Okay, appreciate the call back to Sound of Thunder in the first episode of season 4 of Strange New Worlds, but just by landing, or taking iridium from the past will have already have changed the future.

Wouldn’t this then be a tacit admission that public funding of private schools is fundamentally an idiotic idea? Oh, and to those private schools, you invited this government interference into your businesses. While I think it’s all stupid, I’m taking the “let you and him fight” stance.

This sets up a clash: schools can claim this violates their religious freedom. "Florida [AG] is telling Catholic schools to allow students to opt out of mandated vaccine requirements on religious grounds, or they may lose state voucher funding." www.miamiherald.com/news/local/e... 1/2

A game I played helped make my decision to stop. It was something I could do for a little bit of time, kill zombies, advance in level. And then it morphed into a base builder campaign. Okay. I can do that. Accumulate experience and resources, build better, etc. But there were updates to download
