Reminds me of the Blake's 7 script that said something like "The space station was magnificent", and Dear Dear Vere scribbled next it "Best not to say that, dear. Chances are it won't be.".

Good read, this. Some of my happiest memories are of living in the back of a van on tour, but the lows were epic. One thing I’m glad we did was stop at places to break up the journeys between shows and to do touristy things. Good for the old sanity, but even with that there were moments of madness.

Emma Wilkes asks - if one of the biggest popstars in the world is struggling, what must it be like for everyone else?

And then Season 5… 1. The Enemy of the World 2. The Wheel in Space 3. The Web of Fear 4. The Tomb of the Cybermen 5. The Abominable Snowmen 6. The Ice Warriors 7. Fury from the Deep Bit of a grind doing this one in order. Would happily never watch another base experience a siege ever again.

Doctor Who Season 3 watch finished last night with an absolute banger, so RANKINGS! 1. The Myth Makers 2. The War Machines 3. The Gunfighters 4. The Daleks’ Master Plan 5. The Massacre 6. Mission to the Unknown 7. The Celestial Toymaker 8. The Savages 9. The Ark 10. Galaxy 4

Cracking write up of a phenomenal single. Watching S’Express performances from the late 80s is seeing an act that looks like *the* most fun to be in of all time, and that joy spreads out of the records. That run of three singles - and the parent album - are terrific.

Blog update: "Theme From S'Express" was the second number one in the NME Indie Charts to also reach number one in the national charts. Inclusivity was at its heart - it cared not for cool cuts, and whether you were in a club or at home, it sought to thrill your feet into moving.

Went and re-read this because it was A Big Deal at the time and I have vaguely happy memories of it as such. Cor! Early 90s comics were overwrought AF, weren’t they? So many captions, so much OTT dialogue. Not a naturalistic line in the entire story. Not much subtlety, but…

#EventsDearBoy #45 FATAL ATTRACTIONS (1993, Marvel) The X-Men’s contribution to the year of Peak Events, a curiously structured crossover where every title gets a giant Magneto-themed issue but there’s a lot going on in between - it’s more five linked stories across six issues and reads choppily
