this is really, really good. he’s subtly making a strong case that all gender is performance. this just might start to unwind both the trans panic and even the attacks on talarico. and will either convert or enrage the bill maher types.

Don't get me wrong, I lift every morning. But being a man is not really about how you show up in the gym. It's how you show up for your family. It's about how you show up for your community.

What event in our time will historians eventually point to as marking the beginning of WWIII? WWII was well under way when Hitler invaded Poland (see Japan in China and the Spanish Civil War). The Balkans were already at it when WWI broke out. /1

Really important discussion here. It’s a bit of a tough numerical slog for a bit, but hang in there as it’s all explained pretty well simply by describing methods and explaining conclusions. The last 10 minutes is critically important stuff.

Deep Dive episode: What if our leaders are actually more responsive to public opinion than we think?

Iran is now publicly talking about what I’ve been saying since this war started: They’re trying to Jimmy Carter him, and he’s letting it happen while telling everyone he’s winning.

To my DSA homies- we represent *basic bitch FDR/LBJ legacy Democratic Party politics*. The 3rd Way Clintonista DNC corporate Dems are the anomaly, not us. Basic left wing Social Democrat platform is literally just FDR's 2nd Bill Of Rights. Let's seize back the narrative

👍 👇 Caring what Republicans might say got us into Vietnam, to weaken regulatory practices, to rollback safety-net measures, to turn a blind eye as Wall Street morphed into a national security risk. Caring what Republicans say got us to feel satisfied with a glass barely wet let alone half-full!

Dems have to stop caring what Republicans might say. Every Dem has been 'the most liberal' for decades. Every Dem has been 'anti-military' and 'defund the police'. You'll never leave the house if you care about that. Do the work and speak your choices,

GIFT ARTICLE: "Populist economic policies can sway moderate voters in swing districts and states, according to a left-leaning advocacy group pushing Democrats to craft messages that attack billionaires and large corporations ahead of the critical Nov. 3 midterm elections. ..." wapo.st/4z8dgr1

Group urges Democrats to woo moderate voters with populist policies

A progressive group says messages that target the wealthy and large corporations appeal to a majority of Americans who see the economy as fundamentally rigged.

Oh my. Do you take me for a fool. Of course Al-Sayad could lose voting blocs but the discourse suggests that he can’t add back as well. Harris blew it in Michigan; the Dems wrote off the Arab and Muslim voting bloc and they turned to Trump. The early data suggests they are surging back.

Juliette Kayyem@juliettekayyem.bsky.social · 2d ago

Dems freaking out about whether Al-Sayed can win in a state where Trump won, it helps to do your homework. Harris lost because she lost the Arab and Muslim vote there due to Biden and team’s Gaza stance. The community is back in the Democratic fold. They vote too. From NewArc on Michigan primary:

So let me get this straight, the GOP is trying to smear Muslim Americans holding office in NYC or running for office in MI with 9/11 innuendo but allow the Saudi government with its deep connections to the actual 9/11 hijackers to obtain nuclear fuel? I’m sure this is just fine.

The Washington Post@washingtonpost.com · 3w ago

President Trump has reached an agreement with Saudi Arabia that gives that country a pathway to enrich nuclear fuel and commits it to using U.S. firms to supply its reactors. Here’s what’s in the agreement:

This is my fear too. Gridlock. Endless gridlock with no party, no institution rising to meet the challenge, and the American people becoming even more cynical and anti-establishment, seeing no practical difference between any of the factions fighting for power while ignoring We The People.

Most likely, Dems narrowly fail to take the Senate, narrowly take the House & with a majority unprepared for/unwilling to do constitutional hardball. The path of least resistance is Dems do CRs & investigations which are stonewalled and...that's it, constitutional stalemate, as 2028 swings into gear

Let’s clear a few things up: Senate GOP don’t want the SAVE Act. They want to campaign on wanting the SAVE Act. If Cassidy was a no, Murkowski or Collins would have been a yes. It’s theater. If they thought they could cancel recess, not a single Republican would vote for it.

My hope is all this hand-wringing and pearl-clutching and talk about “war” with members of their own party pisses people off to the point that they vote for the progressive Dem candidate on the ballot just as a big fuck you to the party establishment. /1

How are Republicans always so much vastly better than us on this. You think the corporate wing likes the abortion nuts? Of course not. But somehow their people have enough impulse control to STFU while ours do not.
