Hey y'all... I hate to ask you to switch platforms, but I'm running the #BlackMusicMonthChallenge in three places: IG (@musicsermon), Threads (@musicsermon), and X (bc that's still the original home of the challenge) @naima. I had to recover from Roots Picnic but we're about to get it going!

I might need to signal boost and see if @stillnaima.bsky.social knows because I remember the New York Undercover thread featuring Natalie's performances, but that Gerald Levert feature was "A Song For You".
Gerald Levert I think did a cover of the same song on the TV series New York Undercover, one of the Natalie's features, but you can't even find that version anywhere either.
I've been playing @stillnaima.bsky.social Christmas Playlist. It's perfect
Shout out to @stillnaima.bsky.social for making the playlist I clean to every Christmas Eve! open.spotify.com/playlist/3Aq...

I think age does matter. Not so much "charging" but some level of responsibility to the bills, bc more adults in your house = higher bills. In their 20s and trying to get on their feet? Maybe they just chip in on groceries or cover wifi. But if I had to move in with my mom, I'm paying bills.
No matter their age, why would you ever charge your own non-deadbeat children money to live with you?
Just wanna say shoutout to @stillnaima.bsky.social and this Christmas playlist 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾 #MusicSermon

That man's child probably in middle school and y'all still on his neck 😂
And then he said that his wife’s brother BEGGED their parents to let him come for Thanksgiving. And in a Thanksgiving Miracle, his wife’s parents relented & allowed to come to Thanksgiving Dinner…and eat on the porch. And from that day till our last day, we will tell this tale every November…
[November 18th, 1985] In the Season 17 premiere of Sesame Street, Episode 2096, the adults on Sesame Street finally meet Mr. Snuffleupagus and realize he is real, not imaginary. Elmo is also introduced as a new character.
I'm seeing people wonder why ICE is going after Charlotte. ICE has been at war with Charlotte's sheriff ever since he won in 2018. We'd covered this at Bolts back in the day; this quote is from that sheriff:
“When the 8 African American sheriffs took over the largest counties in North Carolina, it became a threat to the good ol’ boy system,” says the sheriff of Charlotte. These new sheriffs broke ties with ICE. But GOP lawmakers cracked down this week, overbidding the governor’s veto to adopt this law:
those of us laid off from Teen Vogue were really fortunate to complete our fundraising goal — the laid-off staffers at VIBE deserve the same support, as Black media outlets and journalists continue to be targeted and discriminated against in “austerity” measures
It was announced on October 16, 2025 that VIBE was "joining forces" with Rolling Stone. As a result, the majority of VIBE employees were laid off. If you have the means to give, this team could use the support! www.gofundme.com/f/support-vi...
I refuse to watch 47 talk on camera if I can help it in anyway and this is why. When he lost in 2020 I was so relieved to not have that man reminding me how ignorant America is every day, and I still refuse to subject myself to it in real time.
I will never get over the fact that the president of the United States talks and writes like this.
I will never get over the fact that the president of the United States talks and writes like this.
Trump: “I am withdrawing my support and Endorsement of ‘Congresswoman’ Marjorie Taylor Greene…”
Damn. The Pope just did a whole film theory class in one post.
Some inspiring words on cinema in the streaming era from the Pope. Yes, THAT Pope.
America is a multi-level marketing scheme that keeps changing the bonus metrics.
And people are focused on the midterms while they're actively trying to get rid of the voting rights act of 1960 now
Even with focus on midterms: the immediate goal is triage - stop the bleed. THEN treat and heal.
Nikole Hannah-Jones wrote a piece about the fact that he dismantled 60 years of legislative achievement in 9 months. It’s going to take, not months, not years, not decades, but GENERATIONS to rebuild, restore, and evolve. I’m not sure if this Veruca Salt-ass populace has the stomach for that.
Homeboy has done a strong 60 years worth of damage. That's not an exaggeration.
The hard part, it feels like, is getting people our age to see that we may not see all the progress in undoing this mess. Selflessness is not exactly an American trait.
I hope people understand that we're far past just setting shit 47 has knocked over back upright. This will be rebuilding: NEW legislation, new institutional knowledge, new case law even. This will take decades. Not 4 years, not 8.
Once he IS GONE, it will take a while but we will have a semblance of normalcy again. Kind of like what happened after he left the 1st time. But this time hopefully things will be put in place so we do not Ever go through this nightmare again.
we had whole pigeons trained to send messages and now people are sending password protected notes where the password is: RUSSIA2024
Like WHY am i reading an email chain to a Russian intelligence offer that's basically "If Putin wants to know what's up with the president, tell him to holla at me." HAVE YOU NEVER WATCHED A SINGLE POLITICAL DRAMA?
The fear of emails leaking ain't got shit on the fear of getting a note taken up and read out loud in high school.
They were openly documenting the wildest shit over GMAIL I used more discretion when I was a teenager passing notes to my friends in class, or talking on the landline at home
Back in the day, people sent shady sh+t via letters written in code carried under cover of night and handed off discreetly with instructions to burn them. The internet killed discretion in unseemly & criminal activity.
I am shooting my shot. I love writing op-eds. @teenvogue.com was my main outlet, but if there are any others (especially independently ran) that are looking for a contributing writer on race, gender, and the economy, I'd love to work with you. Signed, A Black woman who writes for the public
Yes but not in Black households 🤣
Did yall know rubbing alcohol expired, tf?
Pardoning Nixon was an enormous mistake. The nation did not move on. Elite accountability was thrown out the window.
And also “THE WORD ON THE PAGE IS THE WORD!” This make up a word of what you think the word is insane!!!!
The three cueing system also ISN'T LOGICAL, because if you're teaching kids to look at the first letter of a word + photos + context and not LEARN the word itself, what happens as they progress to books without pictures?
I'd never heard of the three cues model before reading this report, but this explains SO MUCH about interactions on social media. Sooooooo much.
how did i go so long not knowing we were literally teaching people to read wrong. i knew something wasn't right but jesus christ www.apmreports.org/episode/2019...
