The Trump admin just selected matthew wielicki, a fake climate expert, climate impact denier, and serial liar, to lead the national climate assessment. www.politico.com/news/2026/07... He blocked and unblocked me over on twitter 5 times in a row because I kept catching him spreading false claims.

The administration has a new climate change office. It’s headed by a climate critic.

The office that produces the National Climate Assessment has been reconstituted, after the administration gutted it last year.

The latest Nino 3.4 data. Yesterday's Nino 3.4 sea-surface temperature set the 60th consecutive daily record high for the Nino 3.4 region, and was 0.83°C higher than the previous record for July 28th, which came at the start of the 1997/98 El Nino.

Expecting collapse of the Thwaites shelf this year. Then, acceleration of land deglaciation, ocean level rise, and increased albedo loop effects. Then isostatic rebound (deglaciation moves trillions of tons across the shelves). Then rifting… the extinction stuff.

Scary new world this, truth as a commodity that can be gamed. Where we gonna turn for facts? Our traditional media has been poisoned for decades - by the agendas of their rich foreign (always male) owners.

25 tonnes of nurdles, more than 1 billion nurdles, were spilled into the Tyne last week and are washing up on our beaches, north and south of the Tyne. Likely one of the largest ever plastic pollution events in the UK. There is remarkably little mention of this on here.

Guardian headline from Weds 22nd July reading:

“One billion plastic pellets spilled into River Tyne after two ships collide
Up to 25 tonnes of nurdles, the raw material for plastic manutacturing, have spread further than initially feared”

With an image of a beach covered in nurdles.

As of July 19th update, the Nino 3.4 sea-surface temperature is now more than 3.7 standard deviations above the 1991-2020 mean. With the warming just getting started, this El Nino is still in charted territory, but just barely.

Hard to think of a more deeply damaging start to Burnham’s premiership than giving green light to new oil & gas in N. Sea, if true. It won’t lower bills or lead to greater energy security but will drive an even hotter planet. What a terrible signal to give to rest of the world #ClimateVandalism

BBC Breakfast (@BBCBreakfast) on X

Andy Burnham will announce plans for new oil and gas drilling in the North Sea when he becomes prime minister on Monday, the BBC has been told. The announcement will form part of a flurry of policy m...
