Living in America is like being locked in a windowless room with a chimp holding a hand grenade. Sure, I'm relieved when he gets distracted and throws his own poop instead of pulling the pin, but in the end I'm still locked in a room with him.

Part of Trump’s mass appeal (and of why he’s so dangerous) is that he really seems to share Joe Barstool’s worldview that there are no complex problems: Everything has a simple brute solution, which previous leaders were somehow too stupid or weak to deploy.

These ghouls act like they've discovered some novel secret: "Hey, guys, GUYS! Did you know that we can just kill people whenever we want?" Yes, you absolute idiot, that's ALWAYS been true. We just chose not to, for good and self-interested reasons which the entire world is about to learn yet again.

The more I think about it, the less I'm surprised this is happening in America. We have a sordid history of bigotry ("whites only" and "women can't vote" weren't *that* long ago). As demographics browned, it was only a matter of time before it erupted under the right circumstances of fire-spitters.

An entire generation of people raised on memes and Fox News who are just completely unable to separate propaganda from reality. If there is a crisis, it’s epistemological. Fascists will try to bend reality to their ideology, but this always fails in the long run with tons of damage along the way.
