Author of Swords & Sixguns, longtime Jonah Hex historian, and fangirl of multiple facets of pop culture!

I reckoned the strip was some 19th Century doctor's piss-poor attempt at putting Jonah's face back together after it got fried off by that red-how tomahawk. He keeps it because it prevents what's left of his face on that side from peeling back worse.

Look, I love Jonah Hex as much as the next fan, but usually his facial scars are drawn as this thin strip of flesh over his mouth and Hex would've chopped that off ages ago.

Got an email supposedly from someone at Quirk Books, but investigated before responding because: 1) They addressed me by the wrong name 2) It came from a Gmail account, not a company account Sure enough, 30 seconds on the official site turned up this. Always double-check, kids!

In case you missed it, Swamp Thing 1989 #4 (or Swamp Thing #91, if'n ya prefer) contained a reference to the Old West adventure featured in Swamp Thing #85. Tom Mandrake's recent renderings of Johnny Thunder, Madame .44, and an elderly Son of Tomahawk look just as good as the ones he did back then!

Up earlier than I like to be 'cause I'm doing a comic & toy show today. If you're in the St. Clair Shores, MI area, come on by the Bruce Post VFW Hall on Jefferson Ave. between 9-3 and buy some stuff, especially my novel!

Okay, it's confirmed now: Jonah will be coming back to shelves October 7th in a 6-issue miniseries by Michael Walsh titled "Jonah Hex and the Shadow of Death". The first 4 pages (sans dialogue) are already up for preview, along with the solicit, so that's all I'm basing my comments to follow on. 1/

Some Hex news overshadowed by us finally getting word about the upcoming series (more on that in another post) is that not only are we getting a second Western volume from the DC Finest line, it'll contain the very first reprint of the rare "Zany" Jonah Hex parody!

DC Finest: Western: Requiem for a Gunfighter will reprint a never-before-reprinted Jonah Hex parody story from The Amazing World of DC Comics #13. amzn.to/4yBNQ57

Didn't really warm up to "Born in the USA" until adulthood (had to get some years in me to understand the anger in it), but "I'm on Fire" clicked with me as a little kid. I think in that case, it was less the subject matter and more the guitar and the image that the words paint in my head. 🎸🎤

"I’m on Fire" was the fourth single from "Born in the U.S.A." and reached No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in April 1985. It remains one of Bruce’s most popular streaming titles, 41 years after its initial success, and continues to find its way to new generations of listeners.
