Those idiots just refuse to get it. There are 100's of reasons why wildfires start. The One & only overriding factor that makes it possible, is that the grass, shrubs & trees need to be dry enough for it to ignite. IF IT'S NOT DRY, IT WONT LIGHT! Climate change makes it dry.

Absolutely, conditions are so much worse than in years gone by, so a careless cigarette has a bigger impact. But I'm sure I read somewhere that some fires have started due to conditions, rather than humans, which is a result of climate change.

Some fires maybe from discarded cigarettes or disposal barbecue, the fire service have even said it could be plastic/glass bottles not thrown in the bin causing heat from the sun. But there's no denying that lots are just because it's so very very hot and dry, a deadly combination.

Sigh. Just had someone tell me that wildfires (such as the one at Dunwich) are not caused by hot and dry weather...

Because if you reduce the primary transmission (child > child) you then reduce the secondary transmission as well (second child > others). You reduce the R0 and rather than spreading, outbreaks die out. The point is not "under dispute". You just don't understand it.

You’re assuming that any reduction in transmission, regardless of cost, automatically justifies school closures. That’s precisely the point under dispute.

And that is precisely what the experts in the field were saying, slow transmission and you lower death rate.
