Can't get numb to this: The United States is stuck in a war it started, cannot end, and may further escalate to no avail, having dismantled its diplomatic apparatus, depleted its military stockpile, and destroyed its credibility. A historic strategic mistake harming millions in many different ways.

It's a perfect allegory. The pool was a perfect architectural water feature using the natural elements that would allow it to sustain. It is over his head. So he spray painted it, and now it's dead.
What gets me is how often basic decency gets dismissed as some elite obsession. You don’t have to be rich, educated, religious, or secular to recognize cruelty when you see it. Most ordinary people do it every day.
