Growing up is realizing that all the atrocities you learned about in history where “at the time, nobody knew better” certainly included tons of people who did, in fact, know better, but were silenced, ignored, and forgotten.

this is an embarrassing thing for this guy to say in public but also touches on something that constantly rankles me, which is the vague idea of "feeling unsafe" as a problem that someone else needs to solve for you regardless of whether you are actually unsafe or not

I 100% would have used ChatGPT for homework when I was in school, because homework sucked ass. However, if I hadn't been forced to bullshit a lot of essays 15 minutes before class I wouldn't have learned that I enjoy writing. The moral is to destroy both ChatGPT and homework.

Yup! And tech CEOs kids have access to a wide arrange of tech including laptops, Alexas, Apple Watches, and a slew of other tech. For many poor kids a phone is the only word processor and communication tools they have. The entire smartphone moral panic is about control, not kids wellbeing

The thing that most people aren’t realizing is that the thoughtcrimes don’t have to be current for you to be on the Tyrant’s list. Op-ed articles from a year ago, social media likes from two years ago, hiring decisions from 2017, tattoos from a decade ago: justifications for persecution today.
