The antitrust trial for the Warner Bros/Paramount merger will take place in March 2027. Paramount must begin paying WB shareholders $7M a day on Sept. 30 until the deal is complete.

This will accumulate to over $1 BILLION by the time the trial begins. Let's also not forget Oracle's tanking stock (even before the AI bubble has officially popped) and the good possibility of war drying up their sovereign funds. At this point, it'd probably be smarter to pay the breakup fee.

“We’ll use our debt-burdened studio to buy another debt-burdened studio and try to make 30 movies a year” may not be as enormously dumb as “buying a second sports card company after that market imploded after the 1994 baseball strike” but it’s pretty damn close
