Outside of financial markets (and even there kinda sus), it's rarely appropriate to talk about what capital "wants" or "needs" in any specific instance because what the old man calls "capital in general" doesn't appear in itself but as "competition between many capitals."
Personnel is policy. We can talk about new regulatory schemes to address corporate power, but sometimes it is as simple as installing personnel who don't feel like they have to constantly consult and privilege business interests. Note that there are many other avenues to engage with city hall.

With the electoral euthanization of Andy Harris imminent, Eastern Shore MD socials are all about secession. A sort of swamp-ass Dubai where an immigrants servant class kills chickens, picks crab and serves drinks to retired dentists.
Obviously the test prep industry in America is enormous and has all its own deleterious effects, but it does seem like the parental anxiety which in east Asia gets routed to tutoring centers here goes, in large part, to amateur sports. Which is insane.

I believe Stancil (who I have no beef with) can be explained in evolutionary terms. Social media promotes argument - we agree that’s just an inherent feature of it. So it’s natural social media would produce a person who argues with anyone over anything at any time for any reason. Pure argument.

Some people have suggested I haven’t done the background reading, but it’s not a deep idea. It’s from a passage that’s four sentences long.
I’m telling you this as a political scientist. The person who is electable is the one who is elected. This can and does change over time. Any and all speculation about “electability” is either puffery or anxiety and is often both.

One thing that Michigan *may* demonstrate (probably less stark after its all counted) is that while Black folks in general are the strongest voting bloc in support of Palestine, older Black folks in particular are the most stalwart Dems and don't like challenges to the party.
In other Michigan news, the state looks set to elect it's first transgender lawmaker. Joanna Whaley won her Democratic primary and will compete in November for a state house seat, beating a primary opponent who tried and failed to disqualify her for not running under her deadname

That move did work for a long time but it relies on keeping the taboo against antisemitism intact while ultimately eroding that taboo. That the taboo against antisemitism was a means and not an end for these orgs is increasingly apparent.
For some reason nobody had these complaints about Barclays Center which was a giant giveaway to rich people and only rich people

electability arguments are always but always bullshit that is trying to snow you. vote--and advocate as vigorously as you can for--your preference in the primary, vote against the greater evil in the general. anybody who presents a different option takes you for a rube.

For 2026 nonresidential bldgs construction spending, Data Centers +40%, +$20bil Manufacturing -20%, -$43bil Nothing else even comes close to the impact these two have on overall spending, but also notice, a 40% gain in DC is not enough to offset a 20% decline in Mnfg.
