Photographer challenge: post a photo you're extremely proud of. I'm kind of a sucker for sunrise photography, and I was still pretty new to photography when I went on the trip I took this shot. There are some things I wish technically I could have done a bit better, but I'm still pretty darn happy.

A line of pelicans standing on a beach, framed symmetrically against the water and sky. The light of dawn gives a soft glow that reflects against the water, and in the distance, small structures and a rain squall can be seen against the horizon.

Photographer challenge: post a photo you're extremely proud of. Playing with light and shadow has always been an interest of mine in photography, but this was the first time I feel like I stumbled into actually feeling like a shot I took gave light tangible volume and presence.

Life has been very rough, but I have a tiny bit of good news. I'm not a shmup person, usually, but I've gotten mildly obsessed with Zero Ranger, and today I finally got a 1cc on White Vanilla, including the TFB! This is pretty easy in the grand scheme of things, but it's a big deal for me ^^

Been dealing with a lot of offline emergencies in addition to it being the anniversary of my father’s death. Spring cleaning today so I can unload some assets. Ended up unearthing this and felt like it could help anyone going through it lately.

I don't think I've come across a poem that taps into my ethos when it comes to navigating queer community within the context of a hostile world as much as "We Have Enough Dead Friends" by Lena Oleanderson. I strive to make my home a sanctuary where other faggots feel safe and cared for.

We Have Enough Dead Friends
By Lena Oleanderson

Come over. The doors are open,
my flat's a mess and
so is my heart
but the doors are always open.
Come over. I will make soup,
probably from frozen but
the important thing is
we will both eat.

You don't have to be dying,
but if you are,
or you feel like you are,
or if living's been hard,
call me, and I will show up.
It doesn't have to be that bad,
it doesn't have to be bad at all,
but if it is, please call.

Do you want me to do the groceries?
Do you want me to mop the floors?
Do you need to be held;
you don't have to be dying to be held.
If you want me to be there, I want to.

I'm on the bathroom floor again,
and breathing is hard,
and eating's been hard, and sleeping,
the world is a laden thing
rolling around on my chest lately.
Just being alive is heavy tonight,
but we have enough dead friends.
Come over.

I started HRT 10 years ago today. Hard to believe it's been that long; it's been one of the best decisions of my life. My pre-transition self would be amazed at who and where I am now.

I'm camping with friends this week, and it's really reminded me how much I've needed this. I've been dealing with Heavy Shit continously since January, and it's been wonderful to reconnect with those close to me and remember what I need this week.
