Thank you Oakland DOT for painting speed limit markings on the pavement at 7th St & on Broadway around the speed cameras, per my suggestion. The purpose of the camera program is to slow drivers, not to write tickets. So this helps make the 20 mph limit much more visible & hopefully help calm speeds

After a months-long occupation, Minnesota is still recovering from a retribution campaign waged by the federal government. Now, Minnesota stands with Houston in demanding accountability for the fatal shooting of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo. This bloodshed cannot be normalized.

Today is National Graham Cracker Day, so how best to celebrate? How about donating to the Democratic nominee for South Carolina Senate, Dr. Annie Andrews, who is only 3 points behind and could become the ultimate Graham cracker, crumbling Lindsay’s Senate career once and for all! drannieandrews.com

Nervously watching what's unfolding in Belfast as racist bigots use a stabbing as an excuse to wreck havoc and mayhem, burning cars & buses, homes, and businesses of ethnic minority residents Meanwhile, Elon Musk is doing his best to escalate the violence. This is a good 🧵 of his efforts on Twitter

Elon Musk is unambiguously calling for a violent race war. This is far from unprecedented. The Rwandan Genocide was stoked and enabled by Felicien Kabuga, the wealthy owner of the RTLM radio station that helped coordinate the genocide and used euphemisms like "go to work" to signal attacks.

Two separate screenshots in boxes.

The first is a screenshot of tweets from Elon Musk reposting "Do not make peace with evil. Destroy it." and "That's what it has come to" while quote-tweeting "Elon Musk was always right: You either fight back or you die."

The second box is a text from an Al Jazeera article. It reads:
Kabuga, once one of the wealthiest men in Rwanda, was the co-founder and funder of Radio Television Libre des Mille Collines (RTLM), a station established in 1993 that regularly called Tutsis “cockroaches” and encouraged people to “cut down the tall trees”, in reference to Tutsis. Once the genocide started, the station broadcast the names of people to be killed and information about where they could be found.

This Georgia supreme court has been issuing major voting rulings. It mostly shot down changes proposed by the GOP-run election board, while also denying relief to thousands of Atlanta-area voters in the final stretch of the 2024 election.

No sitting justice has lost reelection here in over a century, but two liberal attorneys aimed for an upset while stressing the importance of state courts for voting and abortion rights.

We should start calling the slush fund "Nazi Party favors" If you're worried that would be controversial, that's the point People need to hear about this and confront exactly what it is: rewarding/bribing people to be treasonous and fascist

Maybe a dumb question, but can DOJ just fork over $1.7 bn dollars to a slush fund without congress appropriating that money? Maybe it's already appropriated for some other purpose? Geninely not clear to me how they actually do it.

In 2017, Criselda Vasquez painted this portrait of her parents and titled it "The New American Gothic." Last month, her father, the man in this portrait, was abducted by ICE after being in the US for 30+ years. The family is now struggling with bills. A GoFundMe has been started: gofund.me/456d8a193

I am not an expert on these things but it seems politically fraught for the president to use our tax dollars to pay off the people who stormed the U.S. Capital at the same time his tariffs and war are making everything we buy more expensive.

They're stealing billions of your money to pay off violent right-wing psychos while doing everything in their power to spike gas up to $5 a gallon, make groceries into a luxury and hand the country over to the oligarchs who want to permanently replace you.

Last night the El Cerrito City Council voted to end our Flock contract! Huge thanks to the hundreds of El Cerritans who organized to make this happen. They met with councilmembers multiple times, shared research, sent emails, circulated petitions and dozens spoke at our meeting that ended at 1 am.
