Exactly what offends me so deeply about the collection and sale of personal information about me. I am not for sale!!! @lalevasseur.bsky.social “Central to this must also be acknowledging the immorality of personal data as a market/good.”

Love this framing @tressiemcphd.bsky.social data politics doesn’t happen without data economics. Central to this must also be acknowledging the immorality of personal data as a market/good. www.nytimes.com/2026/08/03/o...

Oregon has dropped parking minimums. There is a 13 story apartment complex going in downtown with no parking lot and all my lefty friends are losing their minds about parking.

Thanks @nerd4cities.bsky.social for featuring my work in this episode! I'm happy to talk any time about how car brain plays out when drivers interact with bicyclists (I did my dissertation on it!), and also power, masculinity, status - my favorite topics 😁🤓

At this point in 2026 Bordeaux, France has experienced more days above 40°C (104°F) than it had in the years from 1920 to 2025, and while it would be wrong to say that this is the end of the world, it certainly suggests that the world as we knew it has already ended.

The claim “RFK Jr. does not fuck chickens” is not an evidence-based claim because studies have not ruled out the possibility that RFK Jr. fucks chickens.

• The claim 'vaccines do not cause autism’ is not an evidence-based
claim because studies have not ruled out the possibility that infant vaccines cause autism.

It’s been 17 years since the federal minimum wage last increased to $7.25. In Oregon, gas prices have gone up 93%, utility costs 81% and housing prices 107% in that time. Oregon has increased the minimum wage and met the moment, but the country hasn't. The American people can’t wait any longer.

What the heck is going on when the leadership of the American Diabetes Association is afraid to hear that the current administration is harming diabetes research. The ADA doesn’t seem to be here on bluesky. Perhaps they are over on the bird site stewing in toxic sludge.

The American Diabetes Association appears not to have learned their lesson the first time around (below). Now they've blocked publication of an editorial about this event that was slated for publication in the same journal, Diabetes Care, this week. But here it is. You know what to do.

"Scientific systems rarely collapse through a single dramatic event. They decline incrementally: one technician dismissed, one laboratory left unrepaired, one instrument taken out of service, one young scientist deciding to build a career elsewhere." physicsworld.com/a/letter-fro... ⚛️🧪

Looking northish across the pumice towards Mono Lake. The Mono Craters (rhyolite domes and coulees) are behind me. I just really liked the perspective here with the scattered and stunted Jeffry pines receding into the distance. Also, I like the color palette of greys and blues and greens.

White foreground with small scattered pine trees. The sea green water of mono lake. And grey overcast sky with scattered sunlit clouds.
