David Pogue@davidpogue.bsky.social · 2w agoFor today's “Pogue’s Posts" column, I tested the new AI Siri. HARD. It missed a few out of my 125 tasks—but some of its triumphs were jaw-dropping. If you can get into the habit of using Siri, you'll do a lot less opening apps, scrolling around, and wasting time.
Many moons ago, I read an article in a skiing magazine about the process their reviewers use to rate skis. I thought it was crazy that they only did one run down the mountain. They said after one run, the reviewer as an expert skier is compensating for the deficiencies in the ski. (1/2)

@moltz.bsky.social Glad you enjoyed The Pleasure of My Company. As a HUGE Steve Martin fan, in the ‘70s, sat next to him at a tennis tourny. Told him I loved his book Cruel Shoes. He got up and moved. Sent him a couple pages of jokes in the early ‘80s and he actually used one. I’m making progress.

Whenever I see a character using a satellite phone indoors, it ruins the show for me. Satellite phones need line-of-sight from the phone to the satellite. The signal does not go through roofs. Seems I must see this about every week. C’mon Hollywood! Do better!

Apple AirTag in my wallet is great (it's saved me from disaster a couple of times) but it's just too thick. The bulge is starting to wear a circle visible from the outside. Found that Apple has licensed the technology and so I've been using Card 5 by Pebblebee. Looks like a credit card. So awesome!
