RIP Kaylee. Our sweet greyhound was nearly 12 years old when we had to say goodbye to her a week and a half ago. She had aggressive bone cancer and we were no longer able to control her pain. She is very missed by her brother Benji and my husband and me. Here she is in happier times.

Sounds like a pretty essential consultation to respond to if you live an area that has seen banks close branches — I’m reminded of news articles about this in the Wairarapa. Access to cash is vital not just in case electronic networks go offline, but also for privacy reasons.
The following consultation from Reserve Bank of New Zealand closes for submissions in 1 week Access to cash
Forgot to post this glorious Pōneke sunset from Thursday evening, 16th July.

Lived experience is often dismissed – but we should recognise it as a form of expertise
People living with disabilities or through poverty and racism develop deep practical knowledge of how institutions function. They should be seen as experts.

InternetNZ members, don't forget to renew your membership if you intend to vote in the upcoming elections. Friendly reminder.
A friend of mine has built this very cool tool which will show you the impact the various parties' tax policies will have on you. Well worth checking it out. yourtax.nz #nzpol
Compare your tax under every party
What each party’s announced tax policy would change in your household’s week, compared with current law.

If you're not registered to vote, or if you feel disenfranchised about the system enough that you don't feel your vote will count, I get it, but please know it really will. Just the act of you registering or going to vote is showing the vulnerable people around you that you care. (3)
As a follow up: If you're living in New Zealand and want to oppose the gender bill, here's the link to the submissions page. You can write anything from a simple "I oppose this Bill in its entirety" through to as long a submission as you wish to make. www3.parliament.nz/en/pb/sc/mak...

Need some joy in your life at the moment. For my non NZ followers- today is gift opening day for our country wide secret santa. Yes, a country wide secret santa! Check out the tag #SecretSantaAoNZ Strangers across the archipelago giving and sharing. It's starting to feel like Christmas. 🎄🎄🎄
#SecretSantaAoN oh my goodness. I feel so spoiled by my Secret Santa. So many thoughtful gifts with little notes to explain each one. 💕 first a gorgeous card. Plus donations to two very worthy causes.
People of the world, I do heartily suggest digging into #SecretSantaAoNZ for some feel good vibes today. If you need some wholesome good internet fun in your life. 😘 It's an Aotearoa New Zealand wide Secret Santa run both here and on Mastodon (will need to be bridged to see those). It's DELIGHTFUL.😍
#SecretSantaAoNZ I have work today and then catch-up with friends this evening so I will be on the late crew for opening presents around 8 or 9 this evening. Looking forward to seeing everyone else’s gifts throughout the day. Can’t wait! 😊
We don’t really play games, though we’ll sometimes pull out a silly 2-person board or card-based game. If we’re with family we’ve played pétanque in Aus and video games in USA with the kids. #SecretSantaAoNZ
Time for a new question #SecretSantaAoNZ What do you play on Christmas day? Cards? Monopoly? Croquet? Cricket? The Santa Hat movie game?
Absolutely this. Auto-reply is an excellent tool for managing expectations.
My fellow academics, as you enter finals week, remember that you can turn on auto replies for even just one day, a few hours, or a weekend to take a break or to be able to focus on a higher-priority task. If you are behind on emails and entering finals week, turn it on early! #academicchatter
We're 80% of the way to our goal! Let's keep this going! Remember, all proceeds go to PATHA to support their court challenge against the puberty blocker ban. In exchange, you get some amazing TTRPGs from some awesome designers! Let's get to that goal and help trans kids: itch.io/b/3421/ban-t...
