Forgive my bluntness, but the only thing Kareem Allam has done is create winning campaigns for some of the most right-wing, useless politicians BC has ever seen: Kevin Falcon, Ken Sim? Earlier, a Canadian Alliance candidate, Stockwell Day, Dianne Watts.. Whatever he is, he's no "liberal" #vanpoli

BC Conservative MLA Peter Milobar has announced he is leaving the party and sitting as an independent. Milobar, who ran for its leadership, was accused in the race by Kerry-Lynne Findlay of being in a “conflict of interest” because his wife is Indigenous and had worked for a First Nation.

There are many B.C. voters who will never vote for the NDP but don't hold far-right views, so this is going to be an ongoing dynamic as the province now lacks a clear centrist option. (I acknowledge the BCNDP has tried to move centre, and that may work with some voters, but others won't buy it.)

Sarah Kirby Yung says our neighborhoods are dying. You’ve been in power for 4 years. This is a distraction from your own failures.
i don’t know if people outside of BC have caught onto the fact that anti-indigenous racism pretty much dominates our province’s political discourse now but it’s reaching hitlarian levels
In case it wasn’t obvious Ken Sim and ABC are working for Big Oil & Gas, they're now running a fossil fuel director for City Council. In October we’re going to Evict Ken Sim and his Big Oil backers from City Hall, and make Vancouver a world leader on responding to climate change.

ABC Vancouver has announced its newest council candidate — and he served in Ken Sim’s office the last four years. David Grewal has been Sim’s senior advisor, and finished in 11th place running for council under Sim in 2018. With Montague not running, leaves space for 1-2 more ABC announcements.
SOGI in BC schools has not been defunded. SOGI is a policy framework and series of resources that still exists in BC schools and isn’t going anywhere. the org that started SOGI had its funding cut but this doesn’t mean that SOGI is disappearing from BC schools. it’s not a class that can be defunded.

Yes, Cdns are paying attention. How can we not, under smoke-filled skies? But worry isn’t enough. If we don’t know what to do, more disasters just leave us feeling even more helpless. To catalyse action, we need to know: 1. what’s happening, 2. why it’s happening, AND 3. what we can do about it.

i feel like i’m going insane because my province is on fire again and every gov is dismantling climate policies and increasing fossil fuel use/development in the name of “affordability”. what is affordability when everything burns around you and you lose everything? there has to be a better way
'Like doomsday': Thousands flee explosive B.C. wildfire as RCMP report possible death
Hearing some residents only had a few minutes to evacuate. Some had to be rescued by helicopter. Some didn’t have time to rescue their pets or release livestock. This is terrible. Hoping residents and fire crews stay safe tonight.
Serious situation near summerland … wildfire spreading quickly. Was 1000 hectares an hour ago, now 5000 hectares. Evacuation orders in place. Fire is displaying aggressive behaviour.
Footage from my colleague Jay Bertagnolli who is out near summerland.
