"Why aren't Americans protesting more" From a British perspective, it's because every aspect of American society is either accidentally or intentionally positioned to make popular mobilisation and meaningful societal change impossible, so they're doing pretty well, all things considered.

Sorry chatbot lovers but the waning of Boolean operators in most search functions on websites has made my life actively worse. You can't find anything, you can only have things suggested to you.

I’m not interested in quibbling about Rowling’s statement because I do not believe her. I do not think there is grace enough in the world for me to entertain anything she says in good faith.

Maybe you think you are invulnerable to this (you are not), but the people who stay in Twitter because you are still sharing there are definitely being dragged to the right. I have so many mutuals who are still posting regularly there, and it's so disheartening to see. Please stop.

Evidence is already accruing that spending time on Twitter pulls ppl to the right, bc the algorithm feeds you horrible stuff. And again: academics are likely more vulnerable, bc they convince themselves they are less.

UGH ok I have/had my eyes on Paperblanks for a nice notebook BUT the assholes have a deal with the Harry Potter franchise 🤮🤮🤮 Now buying anything else from them doesn’t support JKR of course but I feel kinda icky about buying from Paperblanks now. :/

Still looking for a notebook for the upcoming school year. Don’t want to spend too much but also want something fun. :( HEMA has forsaken me with designs I don’t vibe with. Also a lot of notebooks with fluffy covers??? That will get disgusting in three days no thank you.

Once again and over and over until it gets through: archives and libraries scanning something for preservation is an entirely different story than private citizens and companies doing it, because there are strict ethical standards for the former and the latter consider them annoyances.
