Behold a dog and his sandal collection. (One for each family member.) He knows he's the goodest boy.

Ifeel like the timeline needs a photo of my dog with some chard.

Acknowledge the women who didn't get the Nobel Prizes that they deserved, that would be a nice long series.
What kind of content would you like to see on the Nobel Prize’s Bluesky profile? Let us know in the comments.
Got one line (with no lyrics) of a song stuck in my head. All I knew was it was recent and sung by a woman. Finally figured it out. It was No Rain by Blind Melon.
If the only time you stand up for free speech is when you’re defending Nazis, it might not be free speech you’re really into.
...and I didn't see Tyler Austin Harper, or the Atlantic or the NYT or any one of the aggrieved free-speech-is-absolute folk, or the ones speaking out about Cofnas having fuck all to say about those of us wondering how to teach histories of gender and medicine without mentioning abortion in 2022.

I wrote about having a kid as a pre-tenure woman. My story isn't universal, but I like to think it's widely applicable. If nothing else, I hope it m̶a̶k̶e̶s̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶ ̶l̶a̶u̶g̶h̶ counters the narrative that motherhood is ill-paired with a career in academia. #ChemSky www.taylorfrancis.com/chapters/edi...

Just registered Bean for puppy class. The answer seemed obvious...
Reading a thesis that references nanospheres, which i keep reading as "manosphere." I therefore propose we start referring to people sucked into the manosphere as "manoparticles."
Turns out the saying is not, in fact, "Chillin' like vanillin." #ChemSky
I wrote about a reason not to use generative AI in your writing that I haven't seen anyone talking about. Once I realized this, banning GenAI in our lab's writing became a no-brainer. Feel free to share, I think this is probably useful especially for trainees: www.carlsonlab.bio/thoughts/the...
The only reason you’ll ever need not to write with AI — The Carlson Lab
Over the last year, our lab has been developing a policy on AI use. To do this, we did three main things: We read a lot of academic publications and tech news. We set up an #ai channel on our la...

Dreamed I was at a conference that hired @raffic.bsky.social for entertainment. A roomful of chemists enthusiastically singing Baby Beluga... it was wonderful. @ciccheminst.bsky.social do you think we could make this happen??

This award was well-deserved. Pedro was such an amazing PhD student. (Was because he graduated, not because he stopped being amazing.) (Also, you're welcome @pedroafs.bsky.social)
Earlier this month, I was selected the 2025/26 Herzberg Fellowship awardee by the Department of Chemistry @usask.ca 🎉🎉🎉 Alongside the department’s committee, I would like to thank my supervisor @tfkahan.bsky.social for nominating me for this amazing award and for always supporting me and my career!
It's been a while! Long enough I forgot my password and my profile pic. But now I'm back. Expect gushing posts about my research group (they're so great), very random thoughts, and - as of tomorrow - puppy pics.
Hello #chemsky, if you were leading an interdisciplinary center and wanted to get #authorship off on the right track, what would be some good topics for discussion between #STEM discipline academics? Is the #CRediT framework (or similar) adequate?
For today's conference sessions, I'm wearing my "fancy" shorts. And I am not at all underdressed. Fancy = non-elasticized
At a workshop (ice at the microscale) in Switzerland. My kid is ambivalent about the view, but is offended by the lack of things to do in the hotel room. (Not clear what she expects in that regard.)
Looks like I'll probably be allowed into England after all! It just involves money, a visit to the British consulate in Croatia, and correctly deciphering the instructions on a baffling government form.
Was planning on travelling to England this summer. But as a dual citizen I'm not eligible for their ETA (new visa rules), and there's probably no time to renew my existing passport. So... no England for me? (Wonder how long it takes to renounce citizenship...)
Picking my kid up from camp. I'm guessing she had fun since she ran away as soon as she saw me.

Just replied to an email asking me to do service work - "I'm on sabbatical and unavailable." What a rush of endorphins!
Kid's birthday party was today. I baked cupcakes. I do not know how to bake cupcakes. Round 1 worked better than round 2, but none looked like cupcakes. (Icing did NOT help.)
