Review of Sentencing Guidelines is needed. We lock up many more people than European nations. Community sentences that preserve jobs and relationships should be the norm for non violent offenders.

There really are only three choices: * Release prisoners. * Lock prisoners up in each of our downstairs loos. * Build prisons. The third one takes time. The fourth option, of course, is to recalibrate what a prison is and why we send people there.

If Norris has the time or the inclination, the real reform should be sentencing that is readily understood. Not ‘serve X proportion’. Just let the Judge spell out: a) How long should this person sit in a cell? b) How long should they then be supervised on licence?

I can’t believe ‘here’s your prison sentence, you will serve half, but your co-defendant who got a bit longer for something a bit worse will do two-thirds, but one of you can go home early on curfew and that one will now do a third and the other a half’ hasn’t worked out for us.

Crop yields down, our countryside scorched and over 2800 people are dead due to this summer's heatwaves. Meanwhile fossil fuel giants are raking in record profits. We must end this rampant profiteering, and cut fossil fuels from our energy mix as soon as possible.

Left: Robert Jenrick says Zack Polanski should have resigned for sharing a collab post, adding a decent person would apologise Right: When a Reform councillor shared a death threat against a Labour MP, Starmer asked Nigel to apologise, he refused Using Jenrick's logic, Farage isn't a decent person

Basing new RAF firefighting helicopters 2,000 miles away at RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus shows a total failure in domestic priority during a UK firewave. When climate-driven wildfires rage at home, why are key aerial assets permanently stationed abroad? Are we underestimating this? #ClimateCrisis

This is such a widespread experience, some politicians understand this, but there's no concerted effort to bring about change. The housing projects of the past might not have been the prettiest, but it's that drive we need. Most politicians don't seem to understand the urgency or importance. 1/2

The Telegraph really does have the biggest collection of Toff morons who didn't have the skills to do anything useful in life, so were gifted columns doing really shit opinion pieces. My biggest disappointment about this rag is they have a really decent Midlands football reporter.

What utter nonsense to declare defeat in a war we never actually fought. The UK arguing over net zero isn’t the same thing as the world making a serious, coordinated effort to cut emissions. You can’t claim the strategy failed when you spent most of the time refusing to implement it.
