70 mi diameter Moretus (center) dominates this view of the Moon's south pole. Its central peak casts a long shadow like the gnomon of a giant sundial. Some areas near the limb are always in sunlight, making them a promising location for a solar-powered lunar base. Details in ALT. #astrophotography

I continue to take advantage of the clear skies, steady air, and good placement to image Saturn in the early morning. There is a hint of structure in the rings interior to the Cassini division in this image from yesterday morning. Details in ALT. #astrophotography

3 prominences swapping plasma yesterday morning on the limb of the Sun. IMppg had trouble aligning the frames so I used the stabilization feature in iMovie. That worked pretty well, but resulted in the moving camera effect. Lunt 50mm pressure-tuned, double stack, ZWO ASI178MM. #astrophotography

Not much happening on the limb of the Sun yesterday so I zoomed way in on this small, dim, prominence and watched it do its thing for 2 hours, as one does. A 15 s pause was taken between each 15s video for a 2 frame/minute real-time rate. Details in ALT. #astrophotography

Saturn's rings are baaaack! After connection problems with Firecapture, I switched to Sharpcap. It is unsettling to jump back down the learning curve, but I think this will be a good decision, eventually! Should be an OK apparition with altitudes >50 at my latitude.
