On Friday we opened up the Labor Day weekend by launching our campaign for equity in faculty working conditions - with a focus on Non-Tenure-Track faculty.

The lawyer for the abortion pill maker Danco is up now. She says Louisiana is asking the 5th C to do something the Supreme Court already said they can't do: impose a nationwide restriction on the drugs before the FDA completes its safety review.

DOJ lawyer stresses he is NOT defending the abortion pill rules: "The only args we are making are threshold ones that the District Court was proper to to stay the litigation & that Louisiana doesn't have standing." Higginson: "I don't find that very satisfactory. I mean, this is your regulation"

Louisiana argues that Biden's FDA allowed telehealth abortions to undermine the bans of red states. Judge Dana Douglas, a Biden appointee, shoots that down: "The removal of the in-person requirement predates the 2023 issue because it arose originally in COVID. So, how is that a direct response?"

Judge Richman is now pressing the Trump admin lawyer on whether FDA held mifepristone to a higher standard than other drugs when it comes to the risk of adverse events. He repeatedly declines to comment on that, saying that the court only has to decide on the standing issue.

Did not institute a "no laptops policy" for my upper level class because we are reading full books, two of which are only available as e-books through library services. BUT I did give each student a physical notebook as a reading log, not using powerpoint & minimal e-platform use (just syllabus).

Get the laptops out of the classroom!! No internet!!! Print readings for the students! Use real books, pens, & paper! We are doing a “low-tech” classroom this semester, and just a week in, I can tell it has made all the difference
