I read and I write things. Cat appreciator. Whisky drinker. Disney parks goer. Can I borrow your pen?

Got my weird little book box from Sunny’s! I picked bookseller’s choice and received an excellent selection. Also, their paper tape has eyeballs on it (important)

Box with a stack of books held together by red and white baker’s twine. A sticker, bookmark, and personalized notecard are on top. I love book-mail so very much. Trio of small, weird books.

The Bloater by Rosemary Tonks

Weasels in the Attic by Hiroko Oyamada

Kick the Latch by Kathryn Scanlan

All three are very short and exquisitely weird. If you’re in the mood for some weird literary fiction, grab a box from Sunny’s Booktruck.A piece of white, paper packing tape with various expressions of eyeballs all over. Side-eyes. Glasses. Mickey-esque eyes, etc. of course I kept some tape to paste in a notebook. Obviously.

I’m at the hospital being the Responsible Adult for someone having a routine diagnostic when the dude next to me put his phone on full volume. I put down my Paris Review and stared. That phone went silent

The snail lady had a sale & I finally got a book! I’ve been watching her packaging vids for a Long Time. I’ve always wanted to buy something but I’m not exactly an antiquarian book person

A brown paper wrapped package bound with twine rests on a counter top. There is a page from a book that has a variety of fish illustrations on it under the twine. It’s held in place by washi tape.rThe back side of the brown paper wrapped package. There is an ink stamp that is round and reads Thank You. A sticker holds the paper closed. It’s printed with the shop details and a botanical illustration. The shop is L’ Escargot Papier. The paper snail. Her packaging videos bring me a deep sense of calm in this chaotic world. No words, just crinkles. Ancient book with a dark green hard cover and the title etched with gold lettering. Five Hundred Fascinating Animal Stories by Alfred H Miles. Profusely (their words) illustrated with colored plates. It smells divine. There is an image of a spotted leopard on the cover. North America / South America etched above. Europe / Africa / Asia etched below.

bought candy at the pool for a 13yo and she tried to give me cash. i was like nahh it's nbd, and she goes "girl i have seen your car." 13yo girls remain undefeated. you think you're talking to a child but you're actually talking to whatever gods used to send to punish mortals for their hubris

I tried a Tombow dual brush marker just to see what all the fuss was about. It’s decent. Well pigmented, but they’re like $3 a piece at JetPens (I paid $4 from a small shop) so idk if it’s worth it for just accenting stuff in my notebooks

Sylvie tried to run into my closet as I was closing the door and got whacked, poor thing. She’s fine but before she went under the bed to sulk, she gave me ‘how could you’ eyes. Anyway, here’re some birds

List of birds from the Merlin app on this crisp but humid morning:

Northern cardinal (‘morning, Card!)
Carolina wren
Mourning dove
Tufted titmouse
American goldfinch
Chipping sparrow
Red-eyed vireo

Half of these I have to fix because autocorrect is a demon.

I just saw a reel of a young man doing a thing called “What’s on Grandpa’s Turntable” - & he reviewed the album the Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails. I’m just going to lay here and turn into dust now.
