Perpetually intrigued by the battle between RNA viruses and the host @ Duke University School of Medicine. she/her
We found that the most gendered experience wasn’t work-life balance, the focus of most retention efforts. It was feeling devalued, in formal evaluations, but particularly in everyday interactions. Unlike every other topic, the gender gap in devaluation was larger among more senior faculty.
Updated: We add isoform‑resolved m6A mapping using nanopore. m6A is enriched just upstream of proximal polyA sites and alternative polyadenylation plus CSTF2 and CSTF2T remodel m6A during Zika virus infection. With Chris Mason (WCMC) and Kate Meyer (Duke). www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...
Transcript architecture sets the m6A landscape: CSTF2 and CSTF2T reshape m6A through cleavage-dependent and -independent mechanisms
Alternative RNA processing generates extensive transcript diversity, yet how transcript architecture influences selective m6A deposition is incompletely understood. Exon-junction-based models explain ...

The mechanistic basis and cellular functions of UFMylation
Nature Reviews Molecular Cell Biology, Published online: 09 January 2026; doi:10.1038/s41580-025-00944-yUFMylation, a ubiquitin-like modification, regulates endoplasmic reticulum-associated ribosome quality control by conjugating UFM1 to the ribosomal subunit RPL26, preserving ribosome integrity under stress. This Review explores the structural basis of UFMylation and its emerging functional breadth, and it discusses putative UFMylation substrates.
