Soccer nerd. Sometimes I even do soccer poasts.

one benefit of El Sayed's huge polling lead, I think, is that the Dems already had their internal conversations before last night and agreed it's gotta be VBNMW time and so Stevens and Schumer and everyone else were ready to go this morning with their unity statements

I do think that it’s super important to acknowledge that the entire democratic establishment is *already* behind AES as of this morning and to the extent anybody isn’t, it’s the people that annoy you on the internet and it is *them* who are out of step with the Democratic Party.

Happy that it seems like AES is the nominee. In Michigan. I really hope his most ardent supporters understand that the job now is making normal moderate voters feel non-threatened by his politics. Gotta go beat a republican now and that’s how you win.

This is a great episode if you're like me and you kind of have a broad idea of the recent FIFA shenanigans but not the dirty deets.

new @doublepivotpodcast.bsky.social ! the FIFA - UEFA cold war turns hot, Infantino out(?), explaining what the heck was going on with the failed Kushner private capital plan and what is (and isn't) possible for the future of FIFA and football governance youtu.be/AHJgjmUoqHM?...

It is always just the dumbest thing in the world that a bunch of chuds who will tell you how much they love college sports (all of whose competitors would be eviscerated by the pros) somehow think the fact that women would lose to men in an athletic competition matters in any way whatsoever.

Figuring shit out is cool. AI can help you figure shit out. Also, AI can convince you you’re figuring shit out when you very much are not. That is very bad. And feeling like you’re figuring shit out replacing actually figuring things out as the experience you’re chasing is quite dangerous.

Another thought: in his statement, Hank Green expressed quite a lot of shame about the "dopamine hit" he gets from using AI. As a non-AI user I don't really know what he's referring to here. Is the AI voice flattering him while also doing his job (presumably poorly)? Because that's big weird.

Doing my once every few years swing back through dc for a couple of weeks starting Wednesday. If I know you and like you (or don’t know you but still like you) gimme a shout.
