Starting July 25, Bluesky will require users in the UK to scan their face, upload an ID or verify their identity with a bankcard. I realize that platforms feel they have no choice but to comply with the government surveillance schemes, but shocking nonetheless.
The Online Safety Act is going to be another means of forcing trans children into conversion therapy via “safeguarding referrals”, isn’t it?
This is a petition going to the UK Parliament to repeal the Online Safety Act. If you live in the UK and care about your digital freedom, sign this petition. petition.parliament.uk/petitions/72...

Just how much did you want to let Epic Games collect a giant profile of your actions, attached to your Government ID? CnaM and Ofcom have delivered this with their Age Verification scheme. www.thegist.ie/the-gist-age...
this isn't "age" verification it's "We need your legal identity tied here, so if you say anything negative about what the government is doing, we can punish you for it."
Removing your privacy makes it a lot easier for people to silence you.
there is also a reason why it's rushing out the door NOW when a large amount of people requesting aid in gaza, criticising the british government's thirst for genocide are on bsky and the government is trying to crack down on people pointing out anything to do with it.
There's a *reason* it's only coming into full force amidst a wave of hard-right leaning policies that curb trans people's access to public spaces.
"Won't somebody please think of the children!" The UK online safety act has never been and will never be about protecting kids. If it was, youtube would not be the cesspit it is.
Totally normal thing to be worried about, who hasn't met with a hate group and wanted to keep it hidden:
🚨 The evidence points to this being a clear case of campaign groups calling the shots behind closed doors. https://www.wearequeeraf.com/freedom-of-information-request-uncovers-gender-critical-bias-within-ehrc/

TLDR: because the NHS isn't following JPAC guidelines trans women on HRT are effectively banned from donating blood because they insist on using male reference ranges...
And on top of that, the London Marathon isn't a women-only race to begin with.
Anti-trans bigots will claim that organisations and institutions are "captured" if they support and accept trans people yet in reality they're the ones who are capturing organisations and institutions... As with all right-wingers, every accusation is a confession!
A new investigation by @tacc.org.uk has revealed a trove of damning evidence about how anti-trans groups have influenced senior members of the EHRC equalities watchdog 👇 www.wearequeeraf.com/freedom-of-i...
If we wanna defeat the far-right, we need to defeat the centrists first.
i hate 'centrists' more than the far right. 'centrists' live in a little world of ignorance where they have absolutely no idea what is happening politically bcos they are personally insulated from it all. then they run around demanding that the rest of us hush up or else 'the other team will win'.
This is the result of voting for Reform - censorship. They are telling us what we can or can’t read. We are NOT Nazi Germany, we are NOT 🍊💩’s America. We do not ban or burn books in this Country. Here is the link to complain: kccportal.icasework.com/servlet/serv...

You know when we kept saying this was coming, this was happening, this was never a US-only issue, we were having events cancelled and being left off lists and parents had to sign permission slips when we were coming in to do assemblies? You know? www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Presumably the free speech union will be defending any authors of trans books for kids (me) should we decide to challenge this? Or is it that they only support right wing grifters who don’t like being called bigots www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Figure skating world championships were considered to be for men only until 1902, when Madge Syers showed up and took home silver and the ISU went "whooooops guess we need to segregate them." It happened again in 1992 Olympic skeet shooting: Zhang Shan took gold and then they segregated the event.
A reminder that women’s sports are kept separate from men’s not to protect women from always losing to men, but rather to ensure that no man ever loses to a woman. I’m not making this up; that’s literally the reason.
