“print’s not dead!” my tombstone, probably. she/her. graphic design educator, letterpress printer 🖨️ & Luddite. vehemently opposed to generative AI/LLMs. all opinions are my own 💭

Here’s how to opt out. “Google seems to be opting you in to these features without your permission. Second, the company doesn't seem to have notified its users about this. As a Gmail user, I don't recall seeing any notifications about this change.”

Google's AI is now snooping on your emails - here's how to opt out

A new change quietly rolling out allows Google to access your private messages and attachments to train its AI models - likely without your knowledge. Opting out takes just moments.

i just read something about grief from C.S. Lewis and his book, “A Grief Observed” basically, when someone you love dies, it isn’t just them that you miss, but the parts of yourself that person brought out of you that can never be brought out again. i feel that with my dad.

This came today; 1928 deco-era letter press pamphlet cover for an event that used to be held at the Univ. I work for. Verified with Univ. archives & a solid provenance. Will be framed & hung in my office. Came packaged in this dutch(?) language children’s book. Historic rainbow action for my office

A white paper cover to a pamphlet reading “Women’s Day, May 19, 1928” mostly black and white and stylistically deco with hints of Beardsley…with a 3 color rainbow cascading through the middle.

If professors can be fired for discussing topics not explicitly mentioned in the course description and/or not toeing the ideological line of elected political leaders, there is no academic freedom in Texas.

LLMs can’t do math, but they are doing math in order to not do math. And sometimes when doing math to do not math they create things that can do math. Got it?

“The depictions in the media and from clinicians suggest that people are mainly experiencing delusions, and for that reason, clinicians prefer ‘AI-mediated delusions’ rather than the snappier but less accurate ‘AI psychosis’ to describe the phenomenon.”

As reports of ‘AI psychosis’ spread, clinicians scramble to understand how chatbots can spark delusions

Psychologists, psychiatrists, and other mental health providers are scrambling to understand the emerging phenomenon of "AI psychosis."

if i had the opportunity to ask a question of anyone in the administration, given this "war in chicago" messaging, i would ask them how many americans the president intends to kill in his war

Every person who says "of course there are some uses for LLMs" should be forced to immediately list what those uses are, taking into account that: a) they cannot be accurate and there is no way to make them accurate b) they have been repeatedly shown to make users dumber and worse at their jobs

"smart watch" as a portable computer is pointless. the wearable computer should take up your entire forearm and fold out like a yugioh duel disk and also you can do poses with it
