I live at ground zero of the Haitian deportation. It’s stupid vile sadism. 20% of the population, and with them the jobs they did, businesses built, taxes paid, and consumer purchasing, are gone. It’s already done because they’ve been preemptively fired or are in hiding. It’s like a bomb went off.
Today, August 4, 2026, is the setting of Ray Bradbury’s short story “There Will Come Soft Rains” about a fully automated house continuing on after the family who lived there and the world around it died in a nuclear blast.
Looking forward to knowing much less about these people soon …

It should be a huge issue for them, but I doubt it ever will be, for two related reasons: One, theology is far less interesting than power to the right. Two, the Bible has what Luther called a “false nose,” meaning it can be selectively read to justify a lot of ideas, behaviors, and values.
