Not content to criminalise the homeless, he seems intent on driving artists onto the streets.
I don't think this is a useful question to introduce just to grab a headline and set up far-right militarisation framing about NZ's defence spending. Not many reasons I can think of why a *NZ journalist* would ask the question in this way tbh.

Fantastic, thank you. I noticed that the Netherlands have blocked the acquisition by a US tech company of their national cloud based digital ID system, setting an important precedent for Europe. We so need to be having these conversations here!

Anyone else find it really patronising of the government to talk to us about the budget like we are kids? ‘Lolly scramble’, ‘tough love’, ‘adult’ budget.. there’s nothing childish about wanting a responsible budget where we care for our poorest and everyone has a secure home.
why fund better social welfare, support kiwis struggling, recognise pay equity, enable disabled people to live with dignity etc. when we can spend $3 billion on defense? #nzpol

So true. I'm one of the disabled people whose rats and mice of money are being hollowed out by Jeez Louise, while she keeps being a money-grabbing sort. $1000 a week is just amoral.

Or we could all shout SHAME! at the hypocrites. They have no concept what it's like to lose 15 or $30 a week #NZPol
RNZ giving the NZ Initiative the right of reply about a budget they basically wrote is like asking the drone operator how he feels about blowing up a children's hospital.

This subsidy has made a big difference to my life - particularly because it means I can risk going out while knowing I have an option to get home if my health starts playing uo. Others use it for all journeys. The current limit had already become too low. I'm so angry and frustrated.

If racism, xenophobia, transphobia, misogyny, classism is a feature, it’s absolutely deliberate & it’s absolutely in service of re-election, with a side benefit of further embedding prejudice as a social norm, and disunity as the status quo.
Katherine Ryan told me off for calling ACT a far right party on air but they have continued to prove me right. We are in this situation because the people in charge of the narrative don’t want to call a spade a spade and would rather run PR for them for balance or whatever.
