Is it worth cutting costs if doing so harms the university more than saves it? Is the requirement for leadership and management of higher education institutions be that one must have zero vision and zero problem solving skills? Yet, they keep telling us to trust them. Ha!

In 50 days time our members will be taking 5 weeks of strike action. We call for the redundancy process to be stopped! Executives want 200 jobs to go (187FTE). Due to resignations and retirements, and non-staff savings, they are 35FTE from their staffing target. Stop this cruel, flawed process.

Just because good news is worth celebrating: There is now a Prep medication that is an *every six month* injection. HIV has, effectively, a vaccination.

If you missed it, here’s the interim Principal talking about substantial future job cuts at University of Dundee. He refers to the number of job losses recommended in the recovery plan. This is 390FTE with 340FTE via redundancies. We believe redundancies are not necessary. #SaveHE #SaveDundeeUni

Our members have voted to support industrial action to fight against job cuts passed today! In the ballot our 72% of members were in favour of strike action, and 90% in favour of action short of strike. Turnout was 58%. Thank you to all members, reps and officials for helping us get the vote out.

August 4, 2025, five years after the Beirut Port explosion. Questions about justice fill social media today, statements about never forgetting, never forgiving. But the problem is that we still don’t have all the answers about why this non-nuclear explosion occurred…

*sounds the "that was probably AI generated information, that's why you can't find it and now at least 2 library staff have had to do first an initial and then a cross check of that information to confirm it doesn't exist so yes, we've had double time wasted by your time saving efforts" klaxon*

At yesterday’s Townhall with Professor Pamela Gillies and BDO, she mentioned that Alan Langlands taskforce would pave the way forward, including new procedures to appoint senior managers. Due to the exclusion of Dundee UCU from the taskforce there will be no academic voice or input. Disgraceful.
