When contemplating contributions to open source software, always perform a comprehensive search of open issues and pull requests. The feature I had planned to implement has been an open issue since May of 2023, with PRs that solve it written in April (partial) and July of this year (full).

One dividing detail about vampire stories: Is the world one where vampire mythology exists and is well-known, or do people have no clue what's going on until it's way, *way* too late? This is the former, and it's an asset for sure.

Yes, I got these 3 councillors to pose for a pic at #KidicalMassHfx, but this was hardly a photo op. @lecwhite.bsky.social marshalled, as she has many times before. @shawncleary.bsky.social piloted a tandem bike to help Councillor Hinch participate. All 3 stayed & chatted long after the ride. 1/2

Had an exceptionally smooth Halifax Transit experience today with kiddo. Walked > 5 > Ferry > 90 > short walk to the commons pool & splash pad. Lunch from Dilly Dally, snacks from the ice cream cart (which was maybe also a bike?). Perfect.

In the midst of a heatwave, it's starting early this year. A is switching daycares at the end of this month. It'll mean less time in transit for everyone, and fewer travel costs. Alternately, it's a reminder that she'll be starting school before we know it.

It is a time of transition, imbued with nostalgia, and spent grasping at the last strands of summer. The dial is at eleven this year. A starts daycare... tomorrow. A full, but aching heart.

A lot of the footage in this video is graphic and disturbing, but also not rare. People are killed and seriously injured on our roads every day, and it’s not bikes and e-bikes that are involved in virtually every one of those incidents, it’s motor vehicles.
