Helped my daughter jailbreak our old Kindle Paperwhite so she can use it as a generic eReader. Got this when researching the process. I could resume after quick reload/restate of question though. In other words: Claude is both consumer-hostile *and* it has paper thin guardrails. *Slow clap*

While I am on about dropping Big/US tech: Kobo instead of Kindle. Digital media is just rental & I do not want to give Bezos one more cent if I can help it. De-DRMed all my 100s of Kindle books last year. Put them in Calibre, which syncs to many eBook readers. Full control of my books again! ❤️
First US tech company/service dropped from my life, long overdue: Backblaze. Lets go for Norwegian company Jottcloud instead. 10 minutes work to change my rclone backup script over to use Jotta instead for backups, and hey - a waaay nicer UX in their web console, to boot 🙂🪄
Finally, finally getting off my butt and getting off all possible US goods and services. Some will just take longer than others! www.goeuropean.org

Always used Linux or OSX for dev work, but with fallback Windows box at home for PC gaming. No longer: Steam & Proton on Linux are amazing, every game I have tried so far (including Jedi: Survivor and Cyberpunk 2077) runs well. Valve might well be the greatest thing to happen to Linux this decade. ❤

Looking for a simple, solid and user friendly uptime service, anyone got any hot tips? - Not venture-funded/private equity - Not part of the bigtech/cloud operators - Bonus if european corp! Pingdom was my go-to for a long time but they seem to be sinking into the private equity graveyard. 😢
A very, very good walkthrough about the reasons for software complexity and how we deal with them (or fail to do so) 🛠️
