This nice @jlpobrien.bsky.social chart from July 2023 shows Ireland's population in 2024 was c.1.7m (~45%) higher than experts projected after the 1991 Census. It will be interesting to look back at the latest median projection for 2053 (6.39m) - my guess is another double-digit +ve % difference.
