Was quite surprised & delighted to find that my poem "We Go Down to the Sea of Myrrh," which opens with the ever so endearing line, "Molly, I hate your husband" (& which appeared in @cv2magazine.bsky.social), will be in Best Canadian Poetry 2027. Many thanks to @tolu.ca, Anita Lahey & Biblioasis.

Thrilled to have my "Meditations in an Emergency" in Best Canadian Poetry 2027. Kinda flabbergasted that this is the 3rd poem from my debut to appear in BCP. So grateful to @biblioasis.bsky.social, to Anita Lahey, and to @tolu.ca. And what a bonus that @sarahwolfson.bsky.social is in there with me.

Tinnitus is a constant fridge hum in my head. But I also have to deal with the *actual* fridge hum.
Skarsgård is great, but Kevin R. Free is *my* Murderbot. So glad he voiced the new book.

✍️ Writers of Bsky: Instead of “what IP do you want to write for” I have a better question — What NICHE IP do you want to write for? The IP that you’re sure no one cares about but you. I have a list: - Scarecrow and Mrs King - The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh - Doyle’s The Lost World - JAG (not NCIS)
I think my actual answer as much as I care to have one and works for kids too is "words that make music when you say them out loud"
I love this. Also more age-appropriate than Anne Carson’s "If prose is a house, poetry is a man on fire running quite fast through it." 🙃
I've also thought about comparing it to movement: if a story is going for a walk or hike, a poem is more like dancing
My 5 year-old asked “What’s a poem?” when I told her what I was scribbling on the side while I made lunch. My older kid and I really struggled to explain. How does one define poetry for a kindergartener?
Me when I started having nightmares set in my childhood home again, after I already beat that level.
they should make a healing that is linear
My sleep tracker tells me I had a sleep score of 99. The highest I've ever had. But I spent more time in REM sleep, having ridiculous, distressing dreams. I feel very poorly rested and sad. But yay for my high score.
If you think this is exhausting, imagine being Iranian.
Anyway, we have ample research on how living under a state of sustained terror and stress causes life-long health problems as well as intergenerational epigenetic effects. This feels like it's making you sick because it actually is making you sick.
I did think he was going to use nukes. I’m so relieved that I’m in tears. Fuck that guy.
Danny Go!: I owe you an apology. I wasn’t really familiar with your game.
I’m proud of myself for teaching my kids the “It’s got electrolytes” refrain from Idiocracy. But I don’t always make good decisions. Today, I was in a shop and bought harmonicas for both of them on a whim. I usually have better judgment than this, but you can’t win them all.

I realized yesterday that NOT ONCE have I ever found that I forgot to lock the garage or front door, or turn off the stove when I went back to check.
Finally got one of those AI-generated author emails. It was so long. It. Just. Kept. Going. I think they function on the same principle as many scam emails. It’s a numbers game but every now and then, they find someone who is so needy / greedy / uninformed, that they actually work.
