Amy Coney Barrett just told Congress that it would be inappropriate to explain the reasoning behind the Court’s unreasoned shadow docket orders. As if unreasoned judicial orders are a thing. They are not. The reasoning is the whole point.

It's important to do what's Sam's doing here and parsing the law & Constitution, but we must keep in view the forest: This is a huge advance in the US's transition into a presidential dictatorship. It gives the dictator effective authority to cancel laws by firing those tasked with enforcing them.

Article II of the Constitution gives the President the duty ("he shall") to "take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed." This is the opposite of that. Even if SCOTUS is right that he can fire agency heads for cause, SCOTUS didn't say he can shut down an agency created by Congress.
