Was unexpectedly put in charge of the playlist for a 3 hour drive with coworkers so I went with what I consider a safe playlist (sad girls) since it matches the other thing I’m known for (sad facts)

The van hands out food, water, clothes, first aid and free HIV tests. Locals recognize "Thrivey" as it drives across the Twin Cities. The van, and everything in it, is funded by federal money that has been suddenly revoked, as the government reroutes grants from nonprofits to state health agencies.

Running on empty: Can a red HIV outreach van outlast federal cuts?

The Aliveness Project says that nobody else can replicate what they do for the high-risk communities they reach. They're still being defunded.

Highly recommend spending Esther Day with a friend you never get to see because they live on the opposite side of the country but you happen to be where they live for an unrelated reason and you have a free afternoon so you chat for like 6 hours and meet a really cute dog

Need to host an intervention for regional youth theater directors. If the majority of the kids can’t hold the accent through Act 1, don’t have them do accents. Footloose is set in Utah they shouldn’t even have southern accents to begin with

Huge shoutout to my 7th grade science teacher who taught us things like experiment design and controls and independent / dependent variables. Wish my coworkers got the same lesson though because I am losing my patience.

re cyclospora and every other outbreak: no one’s talking about the most critical part of CDC that RFK Jr destroyed — the purge of senior leadership and all their years of experience. outbreak responses are fundamentally broken without the head attached and he intentionally decapitated the agency

My phone buzzed with an email It startled my dog But I explained to him that email is only scary if you can read And only one of us carries that cursed knowledge

1/3 Yesterday, we at CDC/HHS received this newsletter from RFK Jr. 🧠🪱 From it, you’d have no idea that CDC and our partners are dealing with Ebola, measles, and a major multistate Cyclospora outbreak.

A LETTER FROM THE SECRETARY

To the dedicated professionals of HHS,

As we close out July, we're seeing the results of the work you've put in every day. Across HHS, we're restoring accountability, strengthening public trust, and making measurable progress on behalf of the American people.

Under President Trump's leadership, we're protecting taxpayer dollars, advancing scientific progress, and delivering on the Make America Healthy Again agenda.

This week, CMS denied more than $1 billion in payments to California and Minnesota because of suspected fraud. At the same time, the Medicaid War Room reached another major milestone, stopping more than $203 million in fraudulent payments in just 86 days.

These are more than headlines—they are tangible wins for the American people. Every dollar we protect strengthens public trust and helps ensure that Medicaid and other critical safety net programs remain strong and sustainable for the Americans who depend on them.

We also took another important step toward advancing the Make America Healthy Again agenda. The FDA issued a final order revoking the authorized use of Orange B as a food color additive and proposed revoking the authorized use of Citrus Red No. 2. These actions reflect our commitment to putting the health of America's families first.

You'll find these updates and more in this week's newsletter. Thank you for your continued commitment to our mission and to the American people we serve. Together, we're building a stronger, more accountable HHS.

With gratitude,

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.

As I've said many times, the revocation of TPS for Haitians is horrific on its face, but it's *also* going to have a devastating cascade of effects because Haitian workers are the backbone of health and human services supports for elderly and disabled folks, especially here in Massachusetts.

My Haitian friend was just fired from his job. "They said I don't have a legal status now." This is likely happening to hundreds of thousands of people across this country today. Sick.

Can some combination of the knitting community and the Japanese language community on here help me figure out this diagram? I can’t figure out what the number sequences mean (eg 3-1-3). I know they’re about the decrease rate, I just don’t know how
