My column on how capital becomes a death cult. Faced with a choice between profit and human life, the radical right chooses profit. Then it tries to persuade us that mass death is what we want. It's the new phase of climate denial: accept your fate, earthlings. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Murderous heat, an endangered food supply, decimated landscapes: embrace the Mediterranean life | George Monbiot

As climate disaster stares us in the face, the radical right says ‘Embrace the Mediterranean life’. Embrace death, more like it, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

That Joshua Bonehill-Paine is a suitable Tory candidate but Grant Shapps and Gavin Barwell have been excluded is quite a good indicator of how many seats the Tories will realistically regain at the next election.

So Badenoch would recruit a neo-Nazi but *not* someone who didn’t want to leave the ECHR or someone who supported our NetZero commitments. Second chances for this guy but not Dominic Grieve. The Tory party is truly wretched. It’s screwed the country, betrayed its own and lost its tiny mind.

Badenoch defends former neo-Nazi pick as council candidate
By Will Meakin-Durrant
Kemi Badenoch has said her party
"believes in second chances".
, after
the Conservatives selected a former neo-Nazi once jailed for harassing a Jewish former MP as a local election candidate.
Joshua Bonehill-Paine
posted on social media that he was "tremendously proud" that he has been chosen to stand for election to Somerset Coun-cil, in the Crewkerne South ward.
Bonehill-Paine (inset) was jailed in 2016 after he was convicted of racially aggravated harassment.
He wrote several blog posts about the former Labour MP for Liverpool Wavertree, Baroness Luciana Berger, labelling her "an evil money-grabber" with a "deep-rooted hatred of men".

He was previously jailed for producing an ad illustrated with a picture of the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz, which promised "an absolute gas" at a rally in Golders Green, north London.
Badenoch said: "I want to be very clear - and I think people can look at me and know that I'm not a person who would be recruiting neo-Nazis.
"Josh is someone who actually has been certified by the Home Office to train police officers on antisemitism and on countering extremism.
"Yes, he [has] previously convicted but he has shown contrition for his crimes, has been rehabilitated and is spending every day working to solve the very problem which he knew that he had caused previously.
"And the Conservative Party believes in second chances."

"It’s as if we launched a war against nature, and that has turned place after place into something that resembles a war zone. The climate movement is a peace movement, a movement to end this war and its casualties. ...summer was an immaterial treasure and joy that belonged to all of us."

Dear people of Clacton, considering the poverty in your area, considering Nigel Farage has done absolutely fuck all to help you, considering you have better alternatives to change your town, if 73% of you choose for more of the same with a proven liar, you deserve all you get. Washes hands...

Oh and in case you are wondering what happened to the State run Children's Homes, Margaret Thatcher had them shutdown and sold the children like they were State Assets to Private Providers and forced Councils to recognise the deals.

£324,233 the average amount Councils have to pay for every one of the more than 50,000 children in private care. £80,000 the amount of profit they take per child which is never spent on anything. This con is one of the reasons Council have no money.

Brilliant letter from Stuart Thompson to Jeremy Clarkson about his comments that benefit claimants should write weekly thank you letters to tax payers detailing how they spend their benefits each week.

AMAZING MOMENT A woman came back still wearing a custody tshirt having been released for a terrorism arrest. While being arrested for declaring support for Palestine Action a second time, another woman came back to do the same. The opposition to this ban cannot be contained.

What I really want to hear Burnham say is that awful, evil politicians have been fearmongering and weaponising the whole issue of immigration, in a way that causes everyone harm. He doesn’t even need to mention that Starmer was one of them.

Crumbling infrastructure & lack of water jeopardising govt plans for new homes. Privatisation of England's water prioritised shareholder returns. No new reservoirs, desalination plants, or national grid of water. Companies don't do national planning. Yet govts intoxicated with privatisation
