why do I often put scare quotes around "vulnerable" and "at risk"? because people are *made* vulnerable, and people are *put at-risk"—these are not stable categories. we all live in a state of risk, some more than others, and risk is not distributed evenly. we can all be made vulnerable.

Gillian Brockell@gillianbrockell.com · 4d agoHe says only evidence of abuse is ex’s claims, but his 2yo really did have a broken collarbone. That’s evidence! He said it was caused by a seatbelt, which, even if true, means he 1) put her in a car w no car seat OR 2) installed the car seat wrong, AND 3) didn’t notice the injury. That’s abuse!
