there's a sadness to a lot of the drama youtubers who've conditioned themselves to find the cruelest ways to talk about other people. many seem very selfhating which makes sense when they've trained someone in their head to remind them they're sad disgusting losers devoting their lives to slop
I think this part of the @lackingsaint.bsky.social backrooms review is very important because a) this was my interpretation so i’m biased in his favor b) it’s a very important message on the harm that comes from letting yourself get endlessly bogged down in analyzing the meaning of what you endure

Oh my god what do you mean Futurama is still getting seasons. Christ, my standards are pretty goddamn low for stuff I follow weekly but that first season on Hulu is one of the few I've actively regretted watching

i am also struck by how rapidly these discussions move away from the material details of ordinary human bodies and into something more like debates about idealized and abstract Male Form vs. Female Form, which are supposed to reside somewhere in plato's realm of ideas

You don't want to portray, for example, child abuse if you don't at least understand/feel compassion for the suffering of abused children.
I can personally attest to Ela's chops as a writer.
