A sorta odd request. I’m looking for an artistic cartographer or an illustrator to commission to make a cute, useful street map of an actually existing village. Searching the internet produces a bunch of fantasy map specialists and AI slop, which isn’t quite it. Know anyone? (This is paid, ofc.)

AP Stylebook warns against anthropomorphizing AI systems: “Avoid language that gives them human characteristics… Instead, explain what a system does, how well it performs, who built it and who could be affected by it.”

This is called anthropomorphizing, when we ascribe human traits, emotions or behaviors to non-human things, such as animals or inanimate objects. Instead, explain what a system does, how well it performs, who built it and who could be affected by it.

When a human author has written a work, when there’s a unifying intelligence behind it, it’s easy for an experienced editor to work out what the problem is, get a sense of what the author is trying to do, and (often) see how it could be fixed.

Turns out that if you are an old lady with a banner supporting Palestine, the government arrests you on charges of terrorism. If you are a masked white male thug bringing a national port to a standstill, the government does absolutely nothing, and the media covers it like some lads on a day out.
