Just did my student onboarding for my veterinary chaplaincy program and purchased my books and I AM SO EXCITED for this program. This looks utterly fascinating and completely in my lane as someone who has always had compassion for animals.

Made the covers for each story and the bookmark that all backers will receive last night, and I really like how it turned out. This will be an exciting project, and I think I'm going to see if I can do custom soap with the book cover on it as an add-on. www.backerkit.com/c/projects/k... 💙📚🪐🐱

A publisher wants to do a marketing promo for Transgender Day of Remembrance. Why does this feel like a Memorial Day mattress sale? or a President's Day mattress sale?

Voter #36 at my precinct at noon for the primary election here in MO. Wouldn't be surprised if I was the first one to choose a democratic ballot too. (I'm a registered indie now, but I really like the guy who hopes to run against Jason Smith in the fall...)

Missouri friends: tomorrow is Election Day and I'm sure you already know to vote NO on amendments 4 and 5 to preserve our citizen-led ballot measure process and prevent a huge statewide sales tax hike, but please also vote YES on 1 to preserve an existing tax for parks and conservation too!

Got an anticapitalist business newsletter in my inbox this morning and it was really thought provoking, and I think I'll be adding to the conversation around ebook pricing.

I have a nonfiction book on the sensory lives of animals that I need to read before I start my veterinary chaplaincy program at the end of the month. Now that I'm feeling better hoping that I can start. An Immense World: How Animal Senses Reveal the Hidden Realms Around Us #WeeknightWriters

Good morning! It's a new month! What are you looking forward to reading this month? Be sure to tag the author if they're on here - there's nothing an author loves more than knowing someone else is excited about their books

I know Thunderbird doesn't operate well over a network, but as it asks me to authenticate my google calendar every time it checks email I am thinking they are vibecodin' and failin' here. Gods I need to find a better email client that is happy over a windows network. (DO NOT tell me to use IMAP)

With thanks to Kristin, finished reading, and found her new book to be clearly written and chock full of insights on gender, politics, and the development of our American Christianity. More thoughts soon.

I like this question. In my world the global pantheon of gods often walks alongside people, but some have left. Their sense of morality is on a different scale and what they think is moral may not be to human standards. Again depends on the deity and their goals. #MythAugust #Mythology

#MythAugust 3 What kind of moral code do your fantasy gods or spirits follow, if any? Do they share similar moral values to the people, or is their sense of morality completely alien? Do they even do "morality" at all? As usual, interpret as you wish and don't forget to interact with others! ☺️

#MythAugust prompt for Aug 3:
How does your deities' sense of morality align with that of people? I.e. are they moral, immoral, amoral, a mix...?

Tip for the day: If you are f'ing exhausted and have an estrogen-dominant operating system, please go have your iron/ferritin levels checked. If you are anemic and your dr hasn't checked those levels? Malpractice. I shall sing the praises of my vegan multi-vitamin w/ iron forever.....

Yeah, no gatekeeping or at least not very much. While I do lament some of the pathways to knowledge that I had back in the 90s, the world has changed a lot since then. It may be harder to find that information due to our information landscape/terminology changes, but it's a very supportive industry.

Seeing complaints online that authors 'gatekeep' information…! Absolute nonsense. There is no industry or craft in the world which is so comprehensively written about, studied, and discussed as fiction writing, and every author I know welcomes new writers who are serious about giving it a go.

Every now and then someone takes a run at me along the lines of "I don't understand why you, a scifi writer, don't appreciate 'AI'," and I'm all, motherfucker, it's *because* I'm a science fiction writer I have the positions I have, how many times do we have to fucking yell "torment nexus," my dude
