There is a very real argument being made in Hollywood that AI democratizes filmmaking, making it available to outsiders. In truth, the cost of effective generative AI is cost prohibitive to all but corporations, leading to no improvement in quality at the cost of jobs both above and below the line.

A24 defends AI partnership “Our relationship with our audience is something we don’t take for granted .. We want to dictate what tools get built for artists, and so they have a voice in shaping them rather than having tools handed to them. We’d rather have a seat at the table than on the sidelines"

If you are blessed enough to have the means, consider running a search for RENT HELP and helping a stranger keep a roof over their head.

Having made a film at Marvel was a hell of a thing. Departments like VFX are crazy because almost everyone there has won or been nominated for Oscars or Emmys (or both). The wealth of talent there was insane. Much love to everyone affected by such a stupid purge. Y'all really have been killing it.
