"SHOW THE PLAYERS, get this man of the screen!," says my soccer obsessed ten year old. I agree. Also is it only trump giving the medals? What about Carney and Sheinbaum? Booooo.

This morning in Biddeford, Maine, a 26-year-old man said goodbye to his wife and daughter and left for work. Moments later he was dead, shot in the head by ICE agents, the second man ICE has killed in six days. ICE is killing our neighbors. ICE cannot be reformed. Abolish ICE.

Lindsay Graham and I often disagreed on whether you should overturn Democratic elections, starve the hungry, bomb anyone and bomb everyone dark, but nevertheless I hope his loved ones stay off the internet and the rest of you have some fun.

There's a part in the book "Careless People" where the author beats Zuck at Settlers of Catan, and he is absolutely wrecked by it. Someone pulls her aside to explain everyone else has been letting him win for years. I think about this a lot re: why tech bros think everyone will love AI chatbots.

People who spiral out overusing LLM chatbots are really just experiencing the kind of brain-damaging stream of unconditional validation that’s always been the norm for the hyper-wealthy, which explains a lot.

SO excited that @drsabreena.bsky.social came to @academicaunties.com!!! We chatted abt her brilliant book, "DEI Undone"! We chat abt performative allyship, Palestine activism, and reflect on the possibilities of DEI-colonization. Everyone, buy the book!!! www.academicaunties.com/episodes/dei...

And another brilliant PhD grad is joining our ranks! Super proud of Dr. Kushan Azadah, whose thesis powerfully uses the concept of the "Armonia effect" to explain Canada's responses to Afghan settlement, which includes geopolitics, domestic tensions and civil society actions. Congrats! #academicsky

If Muslims or members of the Asian and Black community had set fire to white people’s homes with children running for their lives, do you think we would be discussing legitimate concerns or focussing on who radicalised them and ideological and contributing cultural factors?

Still beaming from Dr. Dani Magsumbol's spectacular PhD defence on Friday! I had the honour of supervising Dani, whose work examines how different generations of filipinx migrants in Canada 'terraform' belonging. She brilliantly addresses temporality, emotions, labour and community! #academicsky

Seriously such a great convo and made me all fired up to keep organizing! Thanks Anna for sharing space. And everyone else, remember that we're all stronger together! #unions #labor

It was a joy chatting with @tungohan.bsky.social about unions in higher ed, misconceptions about who a union is and what it's for, and imagination as the first step in organizing for a better workplace and world. Yeet at your union-skeptical coworkers & any organizer who could use a hug.

Devastated doesn't even begin to describe how I'm feeling. I last saw Raul at a mentorship workshop for racialized scholars in political science at the Canadian political science association, exactly two years ago. He was kind and generous and a true force. He was one of the best.

Anyone who wants to end birthright citizenship wants to bring back slavery. Those same people also claim non-citizens have no rights—not the right to protest against deportation, nor the right to not have police break down their doors, nor the right to defend themselves in a proceeding.
